I am trying to “save-as” a top-level assembly containing route subassemblies, but cannot successfully do so. This is what I’ve done:
1. In PDMWorks, I copy a project that contains the top assy, route sub-assy’s, & their parts. All files names contain a common phrase, so I change the filenames...
Heckler –
There were verifications of problems w/ 2005 such as the following:
- blocks not coming in or coming in w/ lots of errors
- cropped views screwing up
- problems selecting things
- Problems patterning radius’s and components
- Problems w/ layers
- Nuances like cosmetic threads in...
Looking back to '05, I don't blame people for hanging onto a tried-and-true version when they know it works. Think of how many bugs existed when that first came out. Not just with new features, but mainly with ones that have been around for years! This is why we will wait until 2006 is a few...
"Why would you want parts that are not related to your assembly referencing it?"
We put together large pump system assy's which include x-number of route sub-assemblies for sections of piping. When we copy an existing system to modify it into a new one, we want the same route files to...
Apparently, PDMWorks will not allow you to select multiple documents to perform functions (take ownership, change project, open, check out, etc.) When checking out files that do not reference one another is it ever possible to do it all at once? Or must they be selected individually?
Can you...
During training for PDMWorks, my co-workers and I were told that the SW setting "Search file locations for external references" should be left on to force SoldWorks to look for referenced documents in the local folder established as a PDMWorks "workspace".
However, in PDMWorks help, under "best...
Is there a macro that will generate a part/assy file's custom properties, those of the drawing, and the title block all at the same time? I have looked around and all I seem to find are macros allowing you to do one or the other. What is everyone using to populate all of these fields...
Please ignore my ranting! The problem has been resolved.
The only thing I would like to clear up is the difference in owning v/s checking out a file.
I am aware of what each allows you to do, however its puzzling that you cannot check out a file if it is already owned (by you), but as soon...
I am suddenly unable to delete individual files from projects. I get various messages like "Not authorized to delete documents" and "there's no document available for ownership change"
I had accidentally checked in a large assy from my hardrive and deleted the copies. It was only for test...
I used to use AutoManager and Adept. Don't remember a whole lot about the former. But I know Adept had nice viewing (w/ a SW viewer) and redlining capabilities. Especially if you are looking for a paperless workflow, it is deffinately to your advantage. We weren't using it to it's full...
Does anyone know how PDMWorks treats lightweight parts in an assembly when the assembly and all of it's components are checked in at the same time?
Do they become resolved upon checkin?
Is it recommended to resolve all components before checking them into PDMWorks?
Thanks in advance for...
Our company is about to go completely SolidWorks and will soon be implementing PDMWorks as well. We are tying up some loose ends and in the process decided to find a naming convention for route sub-assemblies and their components. Has anyone come up with a successful way to achieve this? Any...
Good morning everyone!
I'm in the process of putting together a large cabinet assembly that holds two pumps. Eventually, I'd like to make animations showing the doors of the cabinet opening to reveal the working pumps.
To start, I've put together the assembly, complete with the two doors...
Has anyone been able to keep the Add Relations dialogue box visible when adding multiple relations? I have SW2005 SP1.1. The tack is on by default, but the dialogue box always goes away when I "check" to add a relation. A bug perhaps?
Well, the tube part actually dissapears from the assy *after* I click "edit component" to exit. And there are rout points already. Right now my solution is just to re-do the tubing. Just one of those quirks I guess. I'm getting around it.
Thankyou CorBlimey! That's exactly what I was looking for! Can I combine that with the info from The Tick and incorporate it into an equation so if the angle dimension (for start/end) in the layout sketch changed, you're equation would change also?
Sorry, forgot to mention that I also tried a sweep to cut away the material. I think that's the way to go, I just can get the spline in my 3D sketch to line up with the helix's axis. I'm looking for suggestions on what kind of relations to create between my spline and the helix.
Thanks
I have a cooling coil part for which I created a helix. It's revolved 4x and the height is 4.5". I started the helix @ 240 degrees on a face of an existing sweep b/c the first 30 degrees at either end of the coil are a smaller diameter than the rest. This worked fine for the start of the...
I think the root of the problem may be that I saved as the top level assy. I made sure to save-as/chg references also for the route sub-assemblies and the tube parts.
In my FMTree for the top level assy, all the route features of the route sub-assy's have the "->?" after them. They are all...
