MATERIAL & HARDNESS FOR SLIDER SURFACES

Hi Unclesid! Thanks for reply! We'll lubricate, but problem is in daily life, greasing is often neglected, so best to have dry-run possibilities. Is hardening required? Frankieboy

    ADDENDUM MODIFICATION COEFFICIENT

Hi Diamondjim; I ordered Dudleys gearbook two weeks ago and will get it somewhere next days. Thanks a lot! Frankieboy

    ADDENDUM MODIFICATION COEFFICIENT

Hi Carburised! Thanks for your reply. Although I'm looking everywhere, I don't understand what you mean with recess action gearing. Can you please explain in brief? Thanks! By the way: link you included is fine, thanks.

MATERIAL & HARDNESS FOR SLIDER SURFACES

Would this advice also apply in case one of the mating surfaces would be cast iron and the other just machine frame steel (low cost)? This is easier for manufacture / assembly.

    ADDENDUM MODIFICATION COEFFICIENT

As Spur already suggested, I'm in Europe. With addendum modification, I mean profile shift, in order to get a smooth running set of gears. The quit odd lay-out (44 - 440 - 31 - 44 teeth in a gear train) might require an addendum, because of the fact smooth running is required. Second and fourth...

    MODULE DIFFERENCES IN GEAR TRAIN

Hi Diamondjim, Spurs, I checked data again and found out pitch diameters are really as such they have to result in different angles. I'll contact my gear manufacturer in order to discuss the issue. We already suffer of problems from the first day we were really able to run the machine...

    MODULE DIFFERENCES IN GEAR TRAIN

Hi Spurs, the reason I ask this is because we've got a machine suffering of problems. It could be this is caused by the differences in module as described. Problems are: Low speed (circumferential speed of the gears)up to 100 m/min --> rumbling sound High speed (circum ..) > 100 m/min -->...

MATERIAL & HARDNESS FOR SLIDER SURFACES

Hi macmil! You are right! But what material to use?

MATERIAL & HARDNESS FOR SLIDER SURFACES

Hi UncleSyd! The components we're actually discussing about are flat sliders, app. 500 mm long and 100 mm wide. Total load is approx 200 kg / slider; two sliders move simultaniously, approx. 5 mm / sec. Movement is not continuous; only once every 2 hours (machine adjustment). Material of...

    MODULE DIFFERENCES IN GEAR TRAIN

Hi! Question: What problems will we suffer of in case we combine 4 gears in a gear train (gear 1 drives gear 2, gear 2 drives gear 3, gear 3 drives gear 4) in case transversal modules are not the same? General data: Pitch: 10 mm Normal module: 2.75 Gear 1 transversal module: 3.16756 Gear 2...

    ADDENDUM MODIFICATION COEFFICIENT

Hi DiamondJim, Thanks for the info you provided. I checked the addendum modification coefficient with some (incomplete) data I have and looks like something like 0.63 for gear 1 and 0.185 for gear 2 is not bad. But why must 1* addendum of gear 1 plus twice addendum of gear 2 equal 1.0...

MATERIAL & HARDNESS FOR SLIDER SURFACES

Hi UncleSyd! The side plates (frame components) of our machine are a few square meters (app. 2.5 mtrs high and 2 mtrs wide, and app 100 mm thick). Sliding surfaces are on cut-outs of these frame components (not the face side, but the 100mm wide side). Bronze is no option; cast iron too...

MATERIAL & HARDNESS FOR SLIDER SURFACES

Hi! I've got a question. What is the best steel material to use for slider surfaces of a machine?Cast is not possible (too smal number of machines to be produced). We want to use the material as well for the frames itself (thickness up to 100 mm), so can't be too expensive. Do we need to...

    ADDENDUM MODIFICATION COEFFICIENT

Hi diamondjim, Thanks a lot for your reply! A further question: as far as I konw, it always makes sense to use a negative addendum for the big gear and a positive for the small one. You suggested a positive addendum for the small (gear 1) and the big (gear 2). Why? What is recess action...

    ADDENDUM MODIFICATION COEFFICIENT

Hi Diamondjim! I forgot something! The addendum modification coefficient of 50% for the first (Z = 45) and 25% for the second (Z = 440) as you adviced previously. I assume the first gear has positive addendum modification coefficient and the second gear a negative. Important is to get very...

    ADDENDUM MODIFICATION COEFFICIENT

Hi Diamondjim, Thanks for your reply. Gear 1 and 2 distance: free to choose and then fixed. Gear 2 and 3 distance depends on number of teeth of gear 3 (between 31 and 120; in real life max is 80). Gear 3 is used for driving a cylinder; number of teeth depends on diameter of cylinder used...

    ADDENDUM MODIFICATION COEFFICIENT

    Hi! I've a question about following. Transversal pitch = 10 mm Normal module = 2.75 Transversal module = 3.1831 Pitch angle = 30 degr 14 min 18.04 sec Three gears in a gear train Gear 1: Z = 45 Gear 2: Z = 440 Gear 3: Z = 31 - 60 (depending on situation - change gear) Gear 1 drives gear 2...

Gear train design for CI flexo printing machine

We are actually working on the redesign of a central impression cylinder flexo printing machine for printing of polyethylene film, including a gear train of four gears: Bull gear drive gear Z = 44 Bull gear Z = 440 Printing cylinder gear (changeable gear) Z varies between 31 and 100 Anilox...
