New Structural Analysis software

Has anyone ever heard of Robot Millennium Freeware? This is a freeware from the company ISS. Key features of ROBOT Freeware are (from the website): 1. 2d frame, truss and grillage analysis of up to 3000 nodes 2. 3d frame and truss analysis of up to 3000 nodes 3. Section libraries and...

    Reinforcing existing joists Part 2

Thanks guys. Also thanks to Aparna for all her efforts. I knew it should be the length of the member. I think 38" is also the wrong number. Is there a way to let the authors know?

    Reinforcing existing joists Part 2

I am still trying to follow the calculation for joist reinforcement (Designing with Steel Joist, Joist Girder and Steel Deck by Fisher, West, and Van de Pas). Example 5.5.2 Joist Reinforcement Checking the compression diagonal members, the book states L/rx = 38/0.377. Where did they get the...

    Reinforcing existing joists.

I'm going over the example from the book "Designing with Steel Joists, Joist Girders and Steel Deck" by Fisher, West and Van de Pas, 1991. Page 165: How did they calculate the tension in the end bar and the maximum compression rod? Is there a simple way to detemine these forces other than a...

Vehicle (lift) load on composite floor

I have a 5 1/2" composite floor with 2", 20 ga. composite deck. My beams are spaced 7'6" oc. The mason wants to use a 6100 lbs lift (weight of vehicle) to lift a pallet of masonry weighing 2800 lbs. How do I check the capacity of my floor?
