It looks like Mike's idea using rhino is going to work. i have been with tech support working a step by step process.
By the way, the source file is an autocad file. i take the dxf and import into illustrator using a third party plugin as not to lose any of the intergrity of the file...

I have 3 parts in an assy that were assigned specific materials in part mode. When I edit the complete assy and say... extrude cut into the 3 parts, I lose my realview.
I can edit an individual part and realview ok... just seems to disappear when I edit the entire assy.
Am I making any...
