I'm coming in a little late here but thought I would throw in my two cents. I took and passed the exam a few years back, and like pretty much everyone else in the room I took in a mountain of books. However I kept going back to my trusty old McGraw Hill "Standard Handbook for Civil Engineers"...
I've designed quite a few of these foundations. Here are a few important concrete details that I have often seen over looked on Pre-Fab building plans:
1. Overall slab dimensions will typically be larger than 50'x100'. Typical slabs will be 50'-3" x 100'- 3" because of a 1 1/2" sheet ledge...
Is the basement directly under the mobile home? How will the mobile home be supported? Typical supports (blocks) under mobile homes I have reviewed are 6' centers unless manufactures specs require other.
Your best bet is to contact your local building inspector, or building permit office. They will be able to give you the answer to assure compliance with local building code.
Anytime I've had the same question for various areas around the country, the local inspectors have been very helpful...
I came across the following in a specification:
"...positive internal pressure of + or - 10 inches wg"
1. What is wg?
2. How can I measure it?
3. Can it be correleated to psi or inches Hg?
thanks in advance
