There are several manufacturers who make fluid flow measurment devices built with the design you describe. These are usually off the shelf items, depending on your medium, piping size, and flow rate. Omega has low cost examples shown in their catalog, for example. dydt's comment regarding...
I am curious if anyone has had recent experience applying mechanical 'Disc-Trac' type mechanical variable speed drives in a Class I Div. 2 area. I have felt that the possiblility of sparking (if the friction disc drive fails), or excessive heating of disc components makes it difficult to apply...
Hi gang
I hve used jraef's "trick" a few times in the past with success (mostly distant past - remember six-step drives?). My experience was limited to smallish (under 10HP) motors. I believe I have done it with a PWM drive, but still in this horsepower range. Twenty years ago...
If the part passes thru a pretreatment system that utilizes a wet solution spray and/or rinse the part should be hung at an angle or oriented to facilitate drainage of sprayed fluids and elimination of "puddles".
What frequency is being displayed on the Fluke DMM? Could be the "carrier" frequncey of the PWM waveform. I think I would monitor the drive display frequncy during one of these episodes, as someone else suggested.
