When I read a paper about auto materials, they mentioned an auto part 'trust plate and tension struts' can be made of that material. I dont know what does 'trust plate'mean. Is that mean 'safty belt plate'? Also can we say ' safty belt' as'trust belt'? Thanks a lot.
Mr.Swall,Thanks a lot
But I heard that the normal failure of brake drums for truck or trailer are heat fatigue just as you mentioned 'HEAT CHECK' above.I know ductile iron has a very good heat fatigue resistant property. Can you give me some data for detail help including friction surface also...
Ductile iron has a very good comprehensive performance, why is it not used for brake drums(trucks or trailers)? Is it because of its weak heat conductivity and vibration damping capacity? Can I try have a try? Thanks!
Hi,Every engineer!
Who can help me answer following questions:
1 what kind of cast iron Commonly used on heavy duty truck(eg.for 16 and 24 tons),and what's their mechanical property?
2 What kind of faliure does brake drum often undertake and what's the reason?
Thanks in advance
Hi every engineers
I have a question, what the thickness outer-diameter and strength been used currently for heavy duty truck transmission axle tubes? what kind of technology do they use,for example, Hot-rolled sheet roll,High frequency weld(Laser weld) ,cold draw finally.
Thanks in advance!
Metengr
Thanks a lot!
In China,I can't get the information of this book.I have contacted the Author Dr.Hertzberg,He said He Had retired and no longer worked in this field. He can't give me any help. Just as you said,Can you recommend me where I can get this book,or if you don't mind, send me the...
Hello Metengr
Thanks again for your valuable post!
Can I use this equation for predicting bending fatigue S-N curve of any steel? for example, low alloy carburizing steels(8620),quench and tempered steels(4140),nitriding steels, low carbon steel sheets or bars? What fatigue stregnth coefficient...
Hello Metngr
Thank you for your rapid reply, and I really appreciate your valuable information.
Lcubed's post is as follows:
"A reasonably accurate approximate S – N curve for any steel can be constructed using the following equations given in this reference.
Log Sf = Log a + b Log N = Log...
Mr.LCUBED has supplied the S-N equations for rotating beam test, I doubt very much if anyone can supply S-N curve equations based on bending fatigue data for any steel or alloy.I can't find the Reference: Shigley, Joseph Edward, and Mischke, Charles R., Mechanical Engineering Design, Fifth...
Who can help me with S-N Curve equations for bending fatigue? Mr.LCUBED or any other friends!

Thank lcubed for your valuable post.
I wonder if you have equations of bending fatigue for predicting S-N Curve for any steel. I don't know if we can use these equations to draw S-N curve of any kind of steel for design use.Thank you!
