Dear Greg, Thank you for the prompt reply. I like your idea of finding an original 1990 Ford Escort. I will work on that. At least I will have some original dimensions to start with. As I told you I was able to get a manual rack to work OK. Of course I didn't take any measurements before...- dsldon
