I'm presently one of many engineers working on the design of 5.5 billion dollar glassification plant in Washington State for the Dept of Energy. The umbrella statement for structural steel design was made a couple of years ago that stated
"All steel will be designed to ASD"

My state (Wa) just changed over from UBC '97 to IBC 2003. There used to be a provision in UBC '97 for increasing the allowable soil pressure with depth. That seems to have disappeared with the new IBC. Is there anything in ACI that supports this.
Has anyone here used the software known as "Woodworks". I'm interested in knowing how good a job it does on residential designs regarding wind & seismic loading. It costs about $800 which seems like a lot just for shear wall calcs.
