I am new to matlab and this might be a silly question. Is there a command in matlab to obtain the quotient and remainders of two numbers. when I looked up on google the results showed quotient, remainders for polynomials. I am just looking for numbers. I could try to write a logical statement...
I have one plate (6x1.5x.25) with a hole in the center and am loading at one end in axial direction (tensile)with the other end fixed. What is is the best location to see the stress due to net cross-section in my FEA. That is if I have a .5" hole in a 1.5" wide plate and .25" thick and say a...
Thanks btureblood and corus. I did not use the hand calculated values because I wanted to see the Kt curve purely from FEA results. If I compare the stress of the beam with hole to the one without hole I would have to model the beam without hole in such a way that the net area of cross-section...
I am trying to plot stress concentration factor for a rectangular beam (6x1.5x.25) with a hole .25 dia in the center of the largest surface. I constrained the beam at one end and applied a 100lb load at the other. I want to know which is a good location to look for nominal stress. I want to...
Does anyone export models from Pro/Engineer (any version) into Msc.Nastran for Windows (any version preferably 2001) and do an an FEA using Msc.Nastran for Windows. I am trying to do this but having some problems. I will feel better if I know that someone else has done this. Thanks in advance...

I am trying to export a model into Msc.Nastran for Windows for this I am trying to save the model as a parasolid .x_t model. I looked at the options in Pro/E under "Save as" but do not see a .x_t extension. Does Pro/E have this option and if yes then what am I missing. Thanks in advance.
Thanks tstanley,
This might sound like a basic question. How is parasolid different from a step file. Step file exports solids, how about parasolid; how are they different? I don't have to stick with step so I will try parasolid. Will exporting as parasolid solve the problem of the plot-only...
I am trying to analyze (static stress analysis) a model (.stp file)exported into msc nastran for windows 2001 from Pro/E 2001. I keep getting an error "FATAL MESSAGE 9058 SESTATIC" when I run the analysis. The message also says that the model is being meshed with "plot-only" elements. Is there...
