The washing machine has been replaced with analog type.
The damaged oven heating elements were OK, no flashing
lights, and there was 120V power to the circuit
boards.
There was no apparent lightning at the time...there
much wind which...

If you can find a bearing with equivalent
load bearing capacity, machine a sleeve to
to fit the housing. This would be much better
than machining the housing and losing rigidity.
Use Loctite on the sleeve depending on the
housing material.

I have a brushed DC gearmotor, 300 in-lb torque, with output of 8 RPM. If the speed is reduced thru a PWM controler to 1 RPM, will there be any torque left

Why are "decorative" concrete panels suspended over
a roadway, mounted by anchors/rods/grout all of which are
loaded in tension? Why go to the effort of putting
large concrete elements in a tunnel with no load bearing...
I have done many VW heads with helicoils with much success.
They are much better than the solid inserts. Use white
grease on the tap, it will catch the chips and you don't
have to pull the head or engine.
