BEst way I find is to rotate the drawing then isolate the text layer.
Rotate 1 piece of text and then Match Properties. If you have varied sizes of Text then use the CHTEXT command and rotate to a specified angle.

Do you know where I can get a vb / lisp / arx prog that can sum the lengths of all the lines on a particular layer?
If I Isolate the Face of Curb layer - there maybe 40 - 250 line segments on that layer. But for Quantity I need a routine that will sum their lengths... got...
Okay a few things....
INtel 4 procesor (3.20 ghz) 512 ram
File 1 (single line dwg) 220 kb
file 2 - xref topo 4,547kb
file 3 - xref boundary 300 kb
file 4 - xref title block 169 kb
If I open the Topo (file 2) I can REA regen all in less than 2 seconds. If I open File 1 that calls all...
I have a drawing that is just a single (1) line and this same said drawing Xrefs my topo contour background file (4.5mgs). we are experiencing 3 - 4 minute regen time....
WHAT !?

I need to speed this thing up cuz we aint too productive.
