In an assembly, if you right click at the top there is an option to "show/hide update holders". What does this do???

Does anyone know how to change the tag on a hole table? I have a tag that says "J1" and I want to change it to "B1". Any ideas???

Eltron, that is what I have basically been doing. I add it usually to the hole callout as text but I was wondering how to link the dimension of the B.C. so that if it changed it would automatically update.

So, when I go to detail the drawing how do I reference a Bolt Circle (B.C.) in the hole callout?

Is there an easy way to insert a bolt circle and maybe tie the dimension of the bolt circle to a bolt pattern?

I finally used the Tools/Sketch Tools/Modify and that worked pretty good. Also, I found the insert .dxf which helped. Thanks everyone for your help.

I am running SW2005. I can find the "Block" option in a drawing but not in a part sketch. Is this a addition in one of the newer versions?

Is there a "group" function like in other software that allows you to "group" things together and maintain their position with respect to one another?
smcadman, I tried the block thing but it appears it only works in drawings and not in sketches on parts.

I tried what Gildashard said and it works to move the sketch great! Now, can I move it instead of telling it to translate the sketch by a certain amount can I place a dimension on it? What I would like to do is "group" all the lines in the sketch and then place x-y dimensions to locat the...
Okay, I just tried whay Heckler said and it drops in all the traces on the PCB fine but when I try and position all of them on my PCB I have created it doesn't maintain the location of each line with respect to one another. Any suggestions or am I doing it right?

So, when I cut and paste it into a new sketch on my PCB it will maintain relations between all the other lines when I move it?

How can I bring in a .dxf sketch and place it on a part and make sure none of the lines move with respect to one another? I am trying to bring in traces from a .dxf file on a PCB and place them on a solidworks PCB I have created. I don't want anything to move but I need to be able to place it...
Well, I fixed it the hard way. I uninstalled everything including deleting the things in the registry, deleting the directories for Solidworks and then I went back and reinstalled everything. Now, I have to go setup all custom things but at least the problem is fixed. Thanks everyone for your...

If I uninstall Solidworks and reinstall, how does the new installation remember all my old settings and preferences? Is there a file somewhere and if so where is that file?

In the Tools > Options > Document Properties > Detailing/Dimensions the smart option IS selected.
This just started a couple of days ago. At that time I was playing with one of those 3 dimensional rotating devices that you can install. Solidworks recognized it and it seemed to work alright...
I saw that. You should be able to click on the dimension once though and see little dots on the end of the arrows. If you click on the dot, it flips the arrows too and that is what quit working for me.

Yes, I can drag the actual dimension to wherever I want but I cannot flip the dimension. When you select the dimension it usually turns green with little dots on the tips of the arrows and when you click those dots it will flip your arrows to inside/outside. Those dots are completely gone. I...
Yah, I tried that several times. I have searched through the Tools/Options also and can't find an option to disable that option.
