My experience with motorcycle engines is that singles always have needle bearings in the lower end (I guess it´s because it´s possible due to having built crankshafts, contrary to forged), whereas multicylinder engines use plain bearings.

In Sweden Ford Focus is availible as Flexifuel model. It can run on E85 or pure gasoline and all mixtures in between. I would imagine that those who drives this cars use gasoline during the winter, due to cold starting problems with alcohol.

Some twostrokes, as mercury outbords and aprilia mopeds, uses direct injection in order to lower emissions.
