Hi, I have to calculate strength( stresses) on a square steel plate (24" x24") with four supports on the corners and hole(4") in the middle. Plate is 3" thick. Laod applied is 500k lbs.

thanks again for the information. I have another question, what about the outer dia. of the nut. e.g. for 2'-12 UN Nut, what should be outer dia 3" , 4" or more. (actually it is the flat size for spanner)

I have modelled a 2"-12 UN threaded shaft used in a compression and tension cage. Is it possible to model the loading on the threads in DesignSpace or promechanica.
Calculating how much laod a 2"-12 UN thread Nut 2 inch thickness can take. Material is Mild Steel.
Machinary's Handbook give the tensile stress area per sq. inch. But where does the thickness of the bolt plays part.
