Agreed. There’s many a slip ’twixt the cup and the lip.
As long as you feel OK with the installation and it passed inspection, I guess the case is closed.
Being primarily a contractor.......that sounds good to me.
Btw, TomFitz, didn't mean to be rude by interjecting on your thread here. I...
All I see is a reference in 312.8 to conductors feeding OTHER switches or overcurrent devices. This is the SAME feeder in the disconnect. Shrug.
312.8 Enclosures for Switches or Overcurrent Devices.
Enclosures for switches or overcurrent devices shall not be used as junction boxes, auxiliary...
Ok, I know this is an old thread but I have a similar situation that I'm wondering about.
An existing 600A disconnect with parallel 350MCM per phase in 3-1/2" conduits that leaves the bottom of the disconnect and goes underground immediately. The disconnect is surrounded by other service...
Well, in all fairness, we don't do any municipal work and very little commercial. Our customers are all industrial type facilities.
I'm certain municipalities required permits which in turn required a stamp if it's of any significant size.
Aleman,
Obviously I was thinking all 120V 1ph. Sorry to confuse the issue. My only excuse is too many hours and not enough sleep. Major goof.
mpparent,
Sorry to rub you the wrong way. I think that additions and changes being engineered, stamped by a PE, etc. are the exception, not the rule...
Just a couple of quick comments.
First, I don't know of any Industrial or Commercial customer that calls for an inspection and permitting everytime they add something or change something in their plant. Are you in the USA? Are you on this planet? Major new construction (like a whole new section...
Was this comment in regards to my mention of stainless steel pipe? To clarify, I have only seen SS pipe used for conduit in Brewerys (as much for looks as anything). I was simply trying to think of anything that might come close to the durability and impervious characteristics of PVC jacketed MC...
Well, this certainly isn't true of Electrical Engineers IMHO. Out of all the EE's I know, only a few bother to get their PE and that is only because they are the primary qualifiers for a business. You must have a PE in order to use the term "Engineering" in the company name. Other than...
Good points, Jamie.
However you neglected to include the part in that NEC section that talks about the sheath or suitable protection.....
.....MC cable shall not be used where exposed to the following destructive corrosive conditions, unless the metallic sheath is suitable for the condtions or...
Oh, I used a piece of CLX once to put in a feeder for a hot tub for a friend (a left over tail). The inspector questioned what the heck it was, but didn't red tag the installation.
:)
CLX cable is used extensively in Phosphate Chemical plants and mining facilities in Florida.
I think the first use here was back in the late 70's. I always heard it was originally from Canada. "Black Anaconda" was the brand back then (haven't seen that one in a while). It is great stuff. Very...
