    Hacking I-DEAS model files

What if I have a model file, and I want to know the top level assemblies and all independent parts and drawings in the file? Here's the catch: I can't open the file in I-DEAS. Is there anything easily accessible within the data of the file that would clue me in? Anything at all???

    Hacking AutoCAD files

What if I had a .dxf or .dwg file and I wanted to know if it referenced any other AutoCAD files without opening it in AutoCAD? Could I trudge through the data in the file and find out? Could I write a script that would do it?

    Pro/E Assembly Tree Structure

What if I have a .asm file, and I want to know what part files it references without opening it in Pro/E? Can I do that? Are there ways to trudge through the data in the file and find the names of the files? Would I be able to write a script that could do it?
