    Step Potential

If the top layer of the soil that you are standing on has a very high resistance, such as if you put crushed rock on the surface of the soil, then you can allow for a higher earth potential difference between your feet - the additional resistance underneath your foot is saving you! Test it for...

    EPRI Red Book 3rd Edition.

Wow, that table of contents seems to contain the answers that I'm presently searching for ie How to calculate the Audible noise for a non-bundled conductor OH line at 66kV L-L

    How To - Transmission Re-Design

Mounting the transmission upside down may result in a very low bell housing that gets too close to the road? See this thread, it seems I'm not the first to explore this option: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-90804.html

Gold. I will definately investigate my options into that. Any advice, pointers, or links to examples or guides, that can prove useful to me?

    How To - Transmission Re-Design

Good question, I have no idea. Can anyone else answer? There is oil in a gearbox, correct? Is it gravity controlled?

    How To - Transmission Re-Design

Design by Design - I have only found 1 place, and it was for 5 not 6 speed http://www.bremarauto.com/subaru_transaxle_conversion.htm To Mike and the other people that have offered valuable insights, thanks for your comments, I think I'll be going RWD which will make it easier in many respects...

    How To - Transmission Re-Design

I agree that RWD is the easier solution, but the ability to lay so much power to the ground whilst cornering (as I've experienced in my friends STi) is very attractive. I have a similarly high powered RWD car and it can't do what his does in the corners! I may end up going with the RWD, but...

    How To - Transmission Re-Design

I noticed that on the quaife.co.uk site, you can get replacement front and rear torsen diffs for the Subaru WRX / STi. It seems to me, that if I replace those diffs with ones that rotate in the opposite direction, then it's problem solved (in terms of getting the car to drive in the correct...

    How To - Transmission Re-Design

Hi Gents, I am building a custom vehicle (small lightweight 2 seater sports car) and got my hands on a EJ255. This is the 2.5 litre turbo boxer engine used in the 2006+ Subaru WRX. Most of you will know that the WRX is AWD. In my application, I want to have the engine either in the mid or...

Twincharging with Screw-Type SC instead of Roots

Well, just a short update on this one :) today I bought an EJ255 which is the 2.5 litre turbo engine as used in the Subaru WRX 2006+ models Have also decided that I won't do an engine transplant, but I'm going to design a car in Pro-E software and then build it :) Also, I'm stoked at the price...

    LPG - Liquid Injection

Some installers say that you need to keep your petrol system for engine startup and engine shutdown, in order to lubricate this or that If I installed LPG, I would want to remove the petrol system entirely - I don't like extra redundant weight

    LPG - Liquid Injection

Excellent, thanks for your feedback. It's quite hard to find such a kit where the manufacturer actually says you can remove your petrol tank. Are you able to name some of these kits or manufacturers so that I can do some more research? I think I've exhausted google without having some new...

    LPG - Liquid Injection

Are there any kits out there that inject LPG in liquid form so that when it changes state to the gas, it removes the latent heat from the charge air (turbo application) and has the effect of cooling the intake and with high octane rating as a bonus? :) The injectors in such a system would be...

Twincharging with Screw-Type SC instead of Roots

Jamin2, I think that the GT2856R (commonly called the GT28R) is too small for a 2L (in fact that turbo comes stock on some OEM 2L so it's definately on the small side) My car is a 3L V6, and twin turbo'd (so 1.5L feeding each turbo) and is being built for GT28RS (about 550rwhp). Given that you...

Digital GT and Jamin2, do you guys have pics you can post up? Digital GT, I couldn't see that SVT SC Kit that you posted up, the link didn't seem to work. Try this: To include an image in your post: ]img http://www.mysite.com/images/happy.gif] edit: Change the first "]" to a "["

Oil/Gas In rubber hose - Static implications

Yeah, thanks for the help guys. I found out that the purpose of the switch was so that the initiation of contact (that could result in a spark) would be geographically (located) away from the hazardous area. That is, if there wasn't a switch in the equipotential lead, then you could spark AT...

Twincharging with Screw-Type SC instead of Roots

Don't get confused with "what's best for OEM is what's best for you" you may have a different set of priorities it is common sense to understand and to acknowledge that OEM are in the business of making a profit ($) when people buy a performance car or a performance motorbike, one of the...

Twincharging with Screw-Type SC instead of Roots

FWD in what body? An imprezza or liberty, or something entirely different? Here's some pics: Alternator, Power Steering Pump, AirCon Compressor - which one are you going to remove? Or, will you accomodate them with a bracket to re-mount it a little to the side? :)

Twincharging with Screw-Type SC instead of Roots

izzmus, yes great idea, to upside-down mount the eaton below the intake manifold. Is there enough clearance room there? Additionally, I had always hoped of fitting an A/W intercooler after the eaton, that would take at least an additional inch of space for a highly compact solution. Perhaps...

Twincharging with Screw-Type SC instead of Roots

j79 guy, thanks for the tip. I'll look into the Ecotech turbo engines too. I quite like the novelty of the boxer, the look, the sound, etc :) Plus I think they're already designed for around 18psi and 8k rpm which is plenty in a sub 1000kg car
