    I have a roof diaphragm that has chord forces that are larger than the deck attachment can resist. Does anyone know of a cost effective way to reinforced the diaphragm other that adding more frames?

    Assuming Metal Roof Deck Rigid Diaphragm

    I believe I read somewhere that when you use a heavier gage of metal roof deck you can assume the roof diaphragm to be rigid. Has anyone else found this provision. I believe the cut-off between rigid and flexible is 18 gage.

    I am working on a job in Panama and I am having a hard time finding the basic wind speed for the area. They are using ASCE-7 as there code, but it does not provide values outside the USA. Does anyone know where I could find the basic wind speed for Panama.

    When checking a two-way slab for shear i have been unable to positively determine in ACI what bw should be. It looks to me like it would be the width of my column strips. Has anyone been able to verify this? Thanks for the help.
