Has anyone used switches for foam detection in wastewater successfully? Ameritrol advertises that there LX series can be used for foam detection but they are unable to provide any case studies or references.
Thanks for the reply Artisi. Packdad, for this case the static elevations are different. When pumping from the tank the static elevation of the tank is 16', pumping to a clearwell via a common header that has a static head of 3'.
When the pump reverses and pumps into the tank, it is drawing...
I have the following scenario where I am trying to find the proper way to do a TDH calculation for a pump when it is in reversed direction with suction from a common header.
I have four tanks each with their own reversible rotary lobe pump with a 10" pipe on the inlet & outlet of the pump. The...
When it comes to valves and calculating the TDH for a pump, are there two different pressure drops you need to find?
The pressure drop caused by friction (K factor) and the pressure drop caused by flow separation (Cv factor)?
Here is the response I received from the local building inspector:
"In response to your enquiry we wish to advise the following:
Your query is two-fold; Densglass is an approved sheathing product having been evaluated by CCMC. However, the sheathing is not required in this application at...
Thanks again for your input guys. I just want to make sure they are doing this properly if they're looking to save money using a different material.
The home is being built in Brantford, Ontario. I will follow-up with the local Municipality to try and find out if they are following local...
Thanks for the replies. I emailed my builder and asked why they used a patch work of Densglass and plywood instead of just plywood and their reply was "it's a better product then plywood, it provides more moisture and mold resistance."
I've read that it is good for moisture resistance, but...
I have a new home being built and the builder has used both plywood and GP Densglass Silver in other areas. Why a combination of both? Is one better then the other?
My search on the net has not yielded any suppliers who carry Sch 120 PVC pipe & fittings, they're all Sch 40 & 80.
Does anyone know a supplier of Sch 120 PVC pipe & fittings?
Thanks for your help everyone! I know my original question is basic to most of you, but my new job requires me to use fluid formulas for design purposes which I am just learning. I will need to take some fluid mechanics courses to help. In the mean time I will purchase Cranes Technical Papers...
Hello,
I am looking for the formula(s) to use to find the flow rate of water from a tank to another tank under gravity.
Diameter of the first feed tank is 86". Height of water in feed tank will be constant @ 68". The height to the center of the outlet drain is 33.25" and the diameter is 4"...
Can anyone provide information about Plunger valves and the merits to use them over butterfly valves for rapid tank drain?
Who are the biggest manufacturers of Plunger valves?
Can someone provide a formula to estimate the amount of time it would take to drain a small reservoir trap under atmospheric pressure? It holds about 9L and has a small 3/8" tube and I'm trying to find a formula that can give the amount of time it would take to drain it.
Hi,
Does anyone have a pdf file or link to a site containing a chemical resistance guide for technopolymers such as:
PEI (Polyeterimmide), PPS (Polyphenylene-sulfide), PPOm (modified Polyphenile oxide),PSU (Polysulphone), PVDF (Polyvinyldenfluoride), PP (Polypropylene), PEEK (Polyarileterchetone)
