Checking through 110v DC control supply

Thanks for the replies everyone, I will need to find out if our 110v DC system is grounded or not. The circuit I was checking at the time was valve actuator limit switches, and the neutral conductor was not within reach for testing. That was why I was using the earth connection. clarkgrizwald

Checking through 110v DC control supply

Is there an approved method of checking through a 110v DC control supply using a multi-meter? I normally check with one lead of the meter connected to earth, and check for voltage at various points throughout the circuit, but an engineer at work says this is not the correct method. Does anyone...

    Single phase submersible pump

A small single phase 240v 50 Hz submersible pump motor runs slowly from starting, & quickly becomes overheated. There is an 8 microfarad capacitor connected. Any thoughts on how to test this motor with a Megger/DVM? clark gizwald

    Wharton 7.5 Ton Overhead Crane

Thanks mpyke, It would be great if you could supply me with some drawings of the Stacreep system, as we have no drawings of this crane at all. The fault has existed for some time, so there is no hurry, and we are going to be busy for the next couple of months anyway. Thanks again.

    Wharton 7.5 Ton Overhead Crane

The slow hoist /lower controls are located in a seperate panel on the cross travel. They consist of a creep hoist contactor, a creep lower contactor,a thrustor contactor, and a brake contactor, also located in the panel is a 415v/110v transformer which supplies the brake contactor. When the slow...

    Wharton 7.5 Ton Overhead Crane

Does anyone have any circuit diagrams for the above crane? The crane is over 40 years old, and has long travel, cross travel, and fast and slow hoist. The problem is the slow lower function is not working, the thrustor energises but the brake and lower contactors do not energise. Thanks
