Hi,
Working in Pro-Engineer Mechanica.
Trying to constrain movement of a surface in a negative axial direction and allow freedom of movement in the positive direction. Any comments on how this is controlled?
I don't think this is the purpose of the "Prescribed Displacement" control in the...
This may be the more appropriate location for this question.
Could anyone point me to a formula or other relation that specifically relates Notched Izod Impact Strength [J/cm] to Fracture Toughness [MPA-m^1/2]. If it also relates Charpy I'd consider it a bonus.
Is this a direct relation? Is...
Could anyone point me to a formula or other relation that specifically relates Notched Izod Impact Strength [J/cm] to Fracture Toughness [MPA-m^1/2]. If it also relates Charpy I'd consider it a bonus.
Is this a direct relation? Is fracture Toughness derived from the Izod or Charpy testing...
Looks right. My intuition was telling me that there'd be more force at the interface between rod and plate. Though, I was initially agreeing with you regarding peak shear stress at the midplane when you mentioned it. I think that's bending shear only I suppose.
The rough estimates (.577 and...
Vonlueke and Dino thanks for the responses.
I believe I was concerned with local deformation but this study won't take the time to model the problem using FEA software.
I do think that compressive strength is really the telling factor because until there is local deformation, there shouldn't...
Thanks for taking interest.
The plate is a polymer being acted upon from below in the center by a vertically fixed circular metal rod. In this case it would be glued to the bottom without a change in cross-section.
I'm trying to find the shear force at the bottom face of the fixed polymer plate.
Hi,
I'm trying to determine the shear stresses in a polymer plate acted upon by a circular cross section rod.
The average shear stress (Tau avg) at the circumference of the rod interface is not difficult to determine. But as the material is a polymer I'm trying to determine the shear stresses...
Hello,
In a chemical application we are looking to cast a ceramic manifold. We are looking for a ceramic or processed coating for ceramics that have the surface properties of glass. Smoothness or low surface porosity is perhaps what we are trying to achive by material selection or post...
Thank you. I appreciate your responses.
I'm using a recuperative heat annulus heat exchanger with low velocities.
I think finding the correct Nusselt number is of course my largest source of uncertainty. But my results are believeable.
Does anyone have experience with Air to Air heat exchangers and some nominal values for design. I am attempting to design a low volumetric flow heat exchanger. The diameters are fairly small. Does anyone have experience in this? I am getting large numbers for the required length. Is this...
Hey 25362,
I was looking over the definition that I am "beyond." What is your interpretation of the reference that the composition of the gas doesn't change. This is due to the Cv staying constant.
Yep! Rayleigh.
So I think I'm going to work with convection and conduction equations to find the dQ for use in flow calculations.
Any comments or questions?
Hi,
I am attempting to complete a pneumatic circuit with a known requirements for flow to approximate pressure loss in the circuit and therefor the operating head for the pump in the circuit. I am neglecting friciton in the tubing simplifying it a little. The circuit contains heated and cooled...
