Would you guys recommend the use of fin fan air coolers above lube oil skids, assuming the restrained footprint on the plant does not allow them to be in any other location
Is it normal practice to provide passive fire protection and coldproofing onto ESD valves that are in LNG service. Assume the valves can be impinged by liquid LNG at -160 and that the same valves are also within range of a jet fire release
Girth weld issues
I understood that the Battelle fracture model predicts the toughness required to prevent fracture initiation in the girth weld.
The pipe has fracture arrest properties based on DNV linepipe requirements, so the girth weld only requires toughness to prevent fracture...
If a series of out of spec welds are suspected on a pipeline (e.g. the welds have not been to DnV spec), what is the best method to assess whether they are fit for service. ECA or Batelle?
Apologies for asking such a basic question, but it is 35 years since my last electrical engineering lecture at London University.
The question is hypothetical (to solve an argument with a colleague).

Would the forum members preference be to blowdown a 12" x 100ft liquid LPG line (after closing SDVs) within a plant, in the event of an emergency - or would the preference be to shut in the volume and protect with fireproofing such as Chartek
