LEED SS Credit 6.2 - Basic question about LEED Boundary

Thanks guys, much appreciated. I've noticed the disconnect between "engineering" versus "LEED" for sure, especially on the forms and the odd way (to me) that they do their voodoo magic. I like the idea of throwing back the design standards at them, I can certainly justify some things with...

LEED SS Credit 6.2 - Basic question about LEED Boundary

Thanks Twinkie, That I've been trying to get across to my architect (project LEED manager), however he seems to think that in this case the grass areas shouldn't be counted due to the barrier curb blocking parking lot runoff from entering the yardspace, and the fact it is unchanged pre & post...

LEED SS Credit 6.2 - Basic question about LEED Boundary

Hello, I have what is probably a basic question about LEED criteria. I'll prefix my question by stating I am not a LEED guru in any way, just a couple of projects under my belt. I have a site with a defined LEED boundary, and it is my understanding that ALL of the LEED boundary is to be...

What is the typical way to deal with live loads for movable planters

I do have a single, multi-span support beam, I will make it a point to check for 'skip-loading' as you suggested, thanks for the pointer.

What is the typical way to deal with live loads for movable planters

Thanks for the bits of wisdom guys, this list has the most helpful members! I will try several of these ideas and compare the differences btwn them, then decide. Thanks again.

What is the typical way to deal with live loads for movable planters

I have an 3rd floor exterior courtyard situation (framed floor). The code LL is 100psf for the public area, which is all easy enough, but the architect just introduced dozens of semi-movable planters on us, layed out with various sizes and also in an artistic arrangement (weighing from 490# up...

Floating slab on bar joists - can it be done?

Thanks guys, this gives me some confidence in moving forward. This forum is a great resource! Thanks again to all.

Floating slab on bar joists - can it be done?

Two slabs...THAT hadn't crossed my mind, makes sense though, I believe the architect is planning on varying thickness of slab for drainage, so the upper slab could be for that while the lower slab is flat. Thanks for the info!

Floating slab on bar joists - can it be done?

This is a new one for me, perhaps this is a really easy question, but I'm striking out with Google so far just trying to find an example of someone else doing this, which concerns me by itself (not going for a ground-breaking design here). The situation we have is a new 3-story retirement...

    LEED Low Emission Vehicle signs

Thanks jgailla. I did have a little luck sourcing a file from an architect. It's only a TIF file, but I thought I'd share, might help out somebody somewhere. I'd still be interested in a CAD file if anybody has a standard they'd be willing to share...

    LEED Low Emission Vehicle signs

In documenting a LEED NC site for the Low Emission Vehicle parking credit, I believe it is normal to show a signage detail of the actual sign to be fabricated. Has anyone here documented that credit before? Is there a source/size/format you copied from? Maybe a source for pre-made signs...

LEED design vs. regular design fees (Civil)

I'm curious to see if any of you have any rules of thumb for Civil fees on jobs incorporating LEED. Green building in my area is really just coming of age, in fact we're just receiving our first request for a green proposal. Having just obtained my LEED GA, I myself am green in experience in...

How to lookup data values from table when using multiple cells?

I was able to find an excel guru over here that just answered my question: http://tinyurl.com/nv627u I hadn't really gave SUMPRODUCT a 2nd glance for this case, but it was the way to go! I'll post it here in case it helps someone else with a similar problem. *************** Try, in F4...

How to lookup data values from table when using multiple cells?

This is probably not a big deal to the Excel gurus out there, but I've been looking on the net for hours this morning trying to figure this out and I'm still having no luck. In the attached spreadsheet, I have a fairly large data table (SCS tabular hydrograph data), and that table doesn't have...
