I have a proposal for a set of replacement gland and interstage seals for a 20 MW turbine generator. The proposal is for Sensitized Packing - a type of which I have never heard. Does anyone know of this and perhaps have operating experience with this packing? The packing is not retractable.
These seals could be windback seals, 8 TPI, designed to "screw" the oil back into the casing once a predetermined RPM has been achieved. Turbocare can manufacture any seal of this nature, or any other "toothed" seal in my experience.
