    Having problems guys, opened a catia model, the went to save as and its blanked out, all the save commands are blanked out?? any Ideas, all I want to do is save the model as a Step file. p.s I new to catia. Thank you

    Right at the bottom left of AutoVue it tells me: CATIA EXPORT V4 R2.4 AutoVue is telling what file it is The file will not let me extract it, RMB will not list extraction. strange!

    I have a file .exp and we can view it in a program called AutoVue, it seems to be a catia model V4, we sent it to a customer who uses Catia V5 can says he cannot open it, is there a method to opening this model in catia?

    jec3300 ok I dont understand smash the 2d but thats not a problem just yet as it will be a few week till we buy Catia. From what your saying I understand, importing a DWG (nothing complex)into Catia can be extruded?

    Thanks guys, great news that I can do this, as I have neary 5000 drawing in autocad and will (over the next few years) be making Catia models from them. This will save me drawing the basic layout. Thanks

    Thank you DBezaire and Solid7, I have had a result and was thanked by out customer for reeciving the model, I save the inventor file as a STEP and it imported into Catia with no problems. Cheers

    A yes STEP we have Step and I can save the assembly to STEP, what is step I have never used that 1
