Hello,
Does anyone have information on courses targeting design of heat pipes. I have read some books on the subject but would like "hands on" training as well. My goal is to be able to design a heat pipe and provide a manufacturer with the specs to build it. I do not want to provide the...
We purchased a Mitutoyo CMM including a computer with some software loaded onto it to run the CMM. The software package is called GeoPak-Win. We are seeing this error while running the software: "Bright-CNC: Online failed (10355. Please check selected CMM driver."
Does anyone have any...
TGS4,
The enclosure is not a pressure vessel (per se) or boiler. It is an explosion proof electronic enclosure. The design is guided by UL 1203 and ATEX Zone 1 specs. I reveiwed the specs and cannot see anything about failure analysis.
This is a new design. I'm trying to determine if the...
I am analyzing an aluminum enclosure subjected to an interior pressure. The FEA package I'm using allows me to view several stress results such as Von Mises, max and min principle, etc...
I want to know whether or not the enclosure will rupture with the presence of an internal pressure. Which...
Thanks everyone. I may have misused the word "explosion". The enclosure is not that big and houses some electronics. The idea is to have it contain an explosion if any of the electronics spark and ignite the vapors inside. I will look into the references mentioned. Thanks again.
I'm having trouble finding an equation(s) that will help me predict the maximum pressure inside an enclosure due to an explosion. Although air and vapors can get into the enclosure, I will assume a constant volume. I've thumbed through some old thermo books but nothing jumps out at me. Does...
The camera option may not be practical. Putting the flies in the tubes is a must; there's no way around that. The immediate goal is to monitor up to 50 individual flies. Later that number will increase. There is a limited amount of space to work in. The tubes will be stacked as close as...
Nick,
1. Do you know if the D. is blind for IR ?
IR is used with the flies in similar applications and there is no report that it has any effect on them.
2. May the range of motion limited in vertical direction?
The tubes will be horizontal. They are about 70mm in length. The fly can walk...
Thanks for the reply, Nick. Here it goes. The insect is Drosophila Melanogaster which is quite small. The fly is confined in a 5mm OD (3.18mm ID) glass tube. I need to detect the fly as it passes a specific point inside the tube. Each time the fly passes the point, a microcontroller will...
This isn't a school project. The device will be used to study insect behavior for genetics research. I need to determine if the insects are moving past a specific point. I want to sense this movement with an IR beam.
I am interested in detecting insect movement with an IR emitter and detector. I have no experience with designing circuitry and need a good resource that will help me understand what I need in order to make this happen. Any assistance will be appreciated.
