I heard there was an aerospace version of this called "ISquawk".
Does anyone have knowledge of any app/software like this? Would be similar to what a Home Inspector would use when doing a house inspection. See the defect, take a picture and then come back after the defect is repaired and...
I work for an Aerospace manufacturing company. We build part for Boeing, Spirit, Cessna, Gulfstream, Airbus, etc. We are trying lean out our inspection system. Currently the process is extremely manual. I saw an APP on my IPhone that was for inspectors that inspect properties (homes, real...
In my experience this type of experience comes from a very shallow minded production person (or even Management). It goes hand in hand with "It's OK because inspection will catch it if we make a mistake."
Personally, I would want to change the name of "Inspector" to "Verifier" or "Validator"...
I work in a company that builds aerospace product for OEMs (Spirit, Textron, Boeing, Gulfstream, Airbus, Northrop, etc)
We have "planners" and we have machine programming. We do not have anyone really focus on Manufacturing Engineering principles. ALL engineers are under "ENGINEERING", but...
The specification we are dealing with come from Boeing. The specification states that ALL dimensions are BEFORE finish. The ID of the bearing is coated with .0002-.0005 dry lube. The before dry Lube diameter is .9995-1.0015. IF dry lube is NOT a finish then the end diameter would be in the...
I do understand for certain Key dimensions, high tolerance, and/or high risk dimensions will need to be looked at differently. We do have exceptions for that. But what is that "good machine" practice when running a part to make sure you don't run 40 parts with a bad dimension.
This is what we...
Not sure if this is the right place to post this... but here goes.
I am a QE developing standards or (best practices) procedure for Machine Operators (Lathe, CNC Mill, Manual Mach, etc). One of the aspects is inspecting the parts that come off the of the machine throughout the run. Does anyone...
We have a Zeiss CMM with Calypso software. I had some experience on a B&S using PC Dmis software. In PC Dmis when you wanted to run multiple parts you would run the manual alignment on the first part and then after that you did not have to do any more alignments as long as the succeeding parts...
I am not sure if this is the correct forum to ask this. See attached picture. I am trying to find out the dimension of "X". If anyone knows the formula for this please let me know.
Thanks
We have the following issue:
We have a shaft Outside threads. The Go Gage will not "GO". However, the parts fit to the mating part AND the mating part checks "good" using Thread Plug Gage.
How can this happen?
to clarify:
In this case, the location of the keyway does not matter. It can been at any location in relationship to the 8 holes or "notch".
So how would engineering show this?
(see attached figure)
The only requirement on the print for the keyway is the width and length (from opposite side of ID to flat of keyway).
here are the questions:
Is this keyway "implied to be on center"?
If so, what would be the tolerance?
If engineering does NOT need the keyway to be on the...
they are actual hand drilled. I got more information and part of the issue is that because it is sheet metal, depending on where the counter sink needs to be done the "drill setup" will drill different depths. The "where" meaning that if there is a stiffener/stringer on the opposite of the...
I work in aerospace industry. Obviously we do A LOT of drilling and riveting. My question is that we have a high reject rate for Counter sinks being the incorrect size. Are there any tools/devisces that would mistake proof the drill bit(s) to where it would virtually impossible to drill a bad...
Thank you for everyone's input. I assumed there was not a circular requirement (if not called out). Our inspection department will measure a diameter and even though the min/max of the circle size is with in the diameter tolerance they will state there is a "out of round condition". Before I...
