Let me tell you more about my approach here.
First I tried using New from the existing assy, then I renamed just the top most level. Then I started using symmetry, but then I start to notice that I lose the constraint geometry previously made on a part of existing assy. Hide/show works here...
I have read all the past threads about mirror/symmetry. I have also read the documentation but I am still missing one key point, i guess. I am trying to make the opposite of an existing assy (has a sub assy including parts that don't require to be mirrored) which is going to have a new part...
Hi,
Well I DL the script, and I am going thru the Acrobat Doc, But as soon as I run the script, I get an error and it tells me to check the V5 Automation API's Documentation for language refrence guide. This is because may be the incident report I always get about a font KANJ, which I still...
Has anybody added fiberglass material spec in INV 11 or is there any web portal where I can download it. Iknow mCAD forums used to have a link to a site where there were alot of material spec present, mostly metal though.
I agree with JacobL as long as the part doesn't have contoured/irregular shapes. I deal with wings all the time, and they are all over the places. I kinda inkling towards CATIAtips as a tracer, so I can bring in a bitmap right in 3D. The other challenge would be to have different profiles as...
I am looking for a digitzier that can input the data from classic Mylars into CAD type file. Are there any people stuck with 1 to 1 huge prints of J & K size and using caliper and old fashion methods or is it just me.
hey ferdo, i checked out the link but it converts geometric set already in place in to text file . I need it the other way around. I m not VB savvy so I am not sure if you can reverse the alogirthm somehow, plus I don't even know how to apply any script downloaded to CATIA. I have one that...
I usually get the loft data to re engineer a part. Sometimes it is so large, that it takes good chunk of the day just entering. Can you import such data thru excel into CATIA, or is there any better sugestion.
We have a job where the 3D data is in V4, and we need to extract the design information so our purchasing can do their purchasing. In other words a list of parts with their material specs for easy reference.
I have created an assembly, now I want to hide all the refernece planes before I convert it into CATpart. Is there an easy way, I know our instructor went thru this step in V4. But since I was new to both avenues thats why I am little disorientated.
Derek,
Man you must be thinking WOW thats dumb. Thank you, it was so easy, guess should have played around more. Where did you get your trainig from if you did any, I want to pursue from a decent institute. I am in NY/ong Island area. Or any book you want to refer, that'd be helpful too...
Derek,
thank you, I never knew you could do that as I am new to it. One more thing I wanted to ask was can you also break the link of a view from its main view so you can position it as you want.
Irfan Ahmed
I have two questions,
1. I m trying to generate a section view at a certain depth in CATDrawing. How to come about?
2. Can I also rotate the view irrespective of the main view from where its been generated, in other words can the link be broken from the main view to manipulate the position of...
I have a contoured flap which needs variable depths at various section. I have the main surface. I tried skecthing the milled surfaces at plane normal to this surface, projected it on that surface. Tried using split, but gave me an error.
Is there any easy way???
Yes and also the other view creations ways too. The vendor has told me that FTA license will let me transfer the FTA data from V4 to V5. We are getting the 30 day temp license to try our option.
I brought a V4 part that had the FTA data into V5, using Product>Insert Existing>RMB on TOLP3> and swicthing the annotations ON. Now when I try to bring this in CATDrawing, I can't seem to get annotaion with the part. The license we have is for MD2+DL1+FT1 and my supplier might be luring me into...
