As a retired field engineer for a major manufacturer, who recommended using "self-leveling concrete floor". An uneven floor can present real problems getting the bottom breakers to rack in. Specifically, the cell isn't square, the center is higher in some places, which causes problems getting...
Does anyone have experience using Dry Ice Blasting to cleanup blast damage? We had a 15Kv cubicle in outdoor Walk-in substation. The voltage transformer drawer as well as fuse truck for the lightning arrestors failed. After removing everything from the cubicle it would seem like blasting the...
Look at the diagram in the ABB R-Mag Instruction Book. You can't use a trip coil monitor on this breaker, it's enough to trip the breaker. Use the "Not Ready" contact, this monitors the control board microprocessor, trip and close functions. Some customers use the "Ready" contact as a similar...
The close block switch is mounted on the breaker truck and part of the racking mechanism. It only closes in the disconnect, test and connected position. When the position pin drops thorough a hole in the racking screw the switch closes and the breaker will close electrically. It allows...
The only multipliers on the DPU2000R are the points of the time/current curve you selected. With 600:5 ct's, that's 120:1 51P-1 set at 7.3 the primary current would be 7.3*1.2=876 amps. The 50N-1 with pickup set at 1 would be primary 120 amps, if it was 20, that would be 2400 primary amps. The...
Depending on the size and manufacturer there maybe a rollin replacement, or the size might allow a cell and drawout 27Kv vacuum breaker fit in existing space. Many of the major manufacturers can do this type of modification.
Today all new breakers are vacuum, you can put twice as many in the same foot print. Nothing wrong with air-magnetic if their maintained. SF6 didn't seem to take off as well as vacuum for <34Kv class.
ABB uses Sace for low voltage and Germany breakers for medium and high voltage adapted for...
