    Hammering in condensate flash tank

Hi, We have condensate flash tank at our urea plant. Condensate inlet pressure to the tank is about 75 psi. By flashing we are getting 55 psi steam. Problem we are facing is the hammering in the tank. There is vibration in the tank and the attached piping all the time. Help in this regard will...

    Process air heater design

Our existing process air heater is shell and tube, 16 feet in length, 195 tubes, 1.5" OD, 16" air inlet and 16" air outlet. Air is in the tubes. 200 psi steam is on the shell side. Air flow is about 6000 scfm at 5 psi to the heater. This exchanger is about 30 years old and now giving problems...

    Urea plant off-gases as fuel

Our main purpose is to utilize 15-20% hydrogen (hydrogen is present in CO2 coming from ammonia plant) in the urea plant off gas as a fuel in the burners of ammonia plant primary reformer burners or in utility boiler burners as a fuel by mixing it with natura gas. My main cocern is the presence...

Heating ammonia above it's critical temperature

Thanks for very detailed guidance. Now there are two things. (1)Is there any effect of giving gas ammonia instead of liquid ammonia on the safety popping at very high pressure? (2)Design ammonia temperature is 250F and we are heating ammonia upto 285F.Is this contributing to safety popping...

    pH control in ammonia scrubbers

We are venting our excess ammonia from urea plant into two scrubbers those are not packed bed. We are using nitric acid to neutralize ammonia and in the end giving ammonium nitrate to UAN plant. We are facing two problems. (1)pH control is very eratic. Unable to control pH at 6 or 7. (2)Even at...

    Urea plant off-gases as fuel

Thanks for reply. Is the above mixture can be burn as it is? I heard that ammonia %age in air 16-30% is burnable. So the mixture of gases containing 33% ammonia, 15% hydrogen, 08% oxygen and 44% nitrogen will burn by mixing it with natural gas going to burners of primary reformer at ammonia...

    Urea plant off-gases as fuel

Our urea plant off gases contain 33% ammonia, 15% hydrogen, 08% oxygen and 44% nitrogen. I was thinking to burn these gases in primary reformer of ammonia plant as fuel.Is this possible? How ammonia could be removed from these gases to increase concentration of hydrogen without spending much...

Heating ammonia above it's critical temperature

Thanks for reply. I am worried about that above critical temperature ammonia will be gas regardless of the pressure. But as a principle our ammonia feed to urea reactor should be in liquid state. Secondly at present we are heating our ammonia feed above critical temperature but unable to have...

Heating ammonia above it's critical temperature

Hi Guys, If ammonia feed to reactor at urea plant is heated above it's critical temperature, what are the negative and positive effects on the process and plant life. Thanks.
