    bsfc vs torque vs HP

Greg is 100% right! I have an old factory power/torque/bsfc graph (1972), max power at 6krpm, max torque at 4krpm and lowest bsfc at 2500rpm. JimK.

Fuel consumption rate for race engines.

As far as bsfc, things aren't THAT much different today than what they were in...1972! I have a factory published dyno bsfc curve for the Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 engine, the 89hp version. It ranges from 0.47(lowest) to 0.54(highest). I bet we can compare these numbers with ANY size 2-valve...

Fuel consumption rate for race engines.

Interesting numbers gentlemen! How can we compare them to the 'accepted' good bsfc of ~.43-.45 (numbers for a Grand National 350 motor on the dyno ca. 1980)? Can we surmise that the lower 'road' numbers reflect the widely varying throttle opening on the actual race course vs the severity of the...

    V6 crankshaft balance factors.

Hello gentlemen, I have a question regarding V6 crank balancing. The engine is a 60degree V6. I fabricated dedicated half-ring shaped counterweights which are fixed on the rod journals for dynamic balancing (there are no accessories available in my area for balancing V engines!). The weight was...

    Valve keeper drawings.

I wish it were that simple Franz, I want no part of re-inventing anything! There are several retainer designs commercially available but only a few will satisfy the combination I want: certain installed height for springs, allowance for 13mm travel before contacting seal and room (topside) for...

    Valve keeper drawings.

Thanks for the tip, EHudson! As far as 'loose' and 'tight' keepers go, since this is a hi-perf/light track duty engine, one of the valvetrain jobs is to make sure the keepers clamp the valve tight so it doesn't rotate (accomplished by keeper sanding on a flat surface, until their ends don't butt...

    Valve keeper drawings.

Merry Christmas to everyone! (the order of the days!) On the technical side, I'd like to know where in the web I can find actual drawings for valve keepers. I'm building an Alfa Romeo V6 engine as subject of a book I'm writing and in the area of valve spring installed height and valve lift with...
