I built a model for a highway bridge in SAP2000.
Can I get out stiffness and mass matrix from SAP2000? I want to input the matrix into a FEM problem to run some special cases.
Thank you for your input.

Sorry for my confusing post.
I means you can define general section by "Add General". But the general section also can be defined in SD.
You are right. Thank you.

For thick plate, the effects of shear deformation and rotary inertia should be included. While those effects are neglected for thin plates.
Usually, try to divide the shell element like "square element".

I used version 9. Now I am using version 10. Even for version 10, you still need to give t3 and t2 to define general section (after input the properties, you will be asked to input t3 and t2).
The general section can be defined in "Add SD section". It's more convenient.

I want to define general sections (Import general, Add general)in SAP2000. All section properties required are calculated using other software. But I am asked to input Dimensions: Depth(t3) and Width (t2). Why? what's the use of t3 and t2? And since the sections are not regular, how to find t3...
Please help me be sure. Thank you for your input.
For frame elements, when i input section properties, I need to define local coordinate system.
Select View->Set Display Options->Frame/Cables/Tendons-> Local Axes, it will show local axes for each frame element. Are the local axes shown the...
Hello,
I define frequency dependent link to simulate a kind of damper. But I don't know hot to add it in the model. Could anyone please let me know? Thanks for your information.
After running a small bridge model (time history analysis),I need to get relative displacement of some joints. Can I define somewhere in SAP2000 so that I can get those relative displacement directly after running? Thanks.
