    STEAM DRUM PWHT

Metengr, I really appreciate you quick responses. Yes! we removed all the Carbon steel tubes and we are going to weld all 700 new tubes with SA-516-70 waterwalls after PWHT. I'm not sure about the depth of cracks right now but for sure Qualified welding procedure have been used. Could you...

    STEAM DRUM PWHT

Orignal plan was to replace all the tubes but when we removed the tubes we found some cracks on the Carbon Steel Waterwalls. These cracks were repaired by welding and Preheating was not considered.

    STEAM DRUM PWHT

We have a repaired WHB water drum (3" thick) that need to be PWHT. Its a vertical drum with 700 numbers of 2" tube holes, 7000 Kg vertical steam drum is resting on the water drum. Since we are going to PWHT this lower water drum only while 7000 kg steam drum is resting on it, that can deform the...

SS Lining on a PWHT Vessel

I really appreciate every ones response. I hope the below lines would answer most of your questions. 1- Vessel Material is SA516-70N 2- The vessel is in Sour Service not in Lethal Service (UW.2 doesn’t apply) 3- We were thinking about SS strip lining, not weld overlay. 4- The vessel does see a...

SS Lining on a PWHT Vessel

Thank You SJones and PAN. Yes the vessel was designed per ASME VIII Div.1 but PWHT was not a code requirement(Thk. 5/8") rather it was a NACE Requirement (Sour Service). One thing that I missed to mention is the vessel see full Vacuum frequently and I beleive lining would not be a good...

SS Lining on a PWHT Vessel

I have a CS vessel in operation that was POST WELD HEAT TREATED because of the sour service. Can we install SS Internal linnig on the vessel shell and bottom head to avoid any errosion that is only becuase of catalyst loading/unloading? Normally welding after PWHT is not allowed but i believe...

    Re-Rating for Lower Design Conditions

A CS pressure vessel that was designed & constructed in 1975 to ASME Section VIII. The vessel was designed for 1700 psig @ 700F. Can we use the same vessel for same service at lower design conditions (The new requirements are 521 psig @389F) Without re-rating it? A New Name plate will be required

    Intermediate Heads Differential pressure

In a reactor having 2 chambers, uper chamber having a design pressure of 10 kg/cm2 & lower chamber having a design pressure of 12 kg/cm2. The differential pressure is 1.5 kg/cm2. Can we calculate intermediate Head thickness using differential pressure as a design pressure?
