Thanks again metengr for all your help. We do receive the nitralloy in the annealed condition. I am not familiar with buttering is it referenced in ASME section 8 or 9 any where?
It is the rod itself that is warping from the 600 Degree preheat. As I heat the area to be welded it is causeing distortion, and thus changing the overall dimension. that is the issues arise.
Having some issues welding A355 nitralloy. Overlay of Stellite 6 with a 600 Degree F preheat is causeing some major warpage in the 3 inch diameter rod that I am welding on. Is the 600 Degree F nessisary for this small of diameter? The rod its self ranges from 24" to 52" in length, and 1" to...
Looking for information on buttering. Welding on carbon steel doing a Overlay of 316 SS. Would it be a good idea to butter first with some 309 SS? Needing to stay within the limits of ASME Section VIII and IX. Any help or Guideance would be appreciated.
Don't really know if this is the best place to post this question but here it goes. Doing a 316 SS overlay onto Carbon steel is it nessisary or required to do a 309 SS overlay for buttering purposes? Tring to stay withint the limits of ASME section 8 and 9 for pressure vessels.
We are doing an overlay of stellite. When the welders preheat it it becomes very hard to weld. I was hoping that someone might know a trick as to how to do it successfully. The Bars that we do the overlay on tend to warp alot, so we are looking for a different solution.
I am looking for code reference to weld repair a cast body according to ASME code. UW-38 doesn't list anything like what would be considered major or minor like in TP278 (MIL-STD) Can anyone help me out.
