    Welder Qualification

If I wanted to qualify a welder for 1" thru 8" diameter pipe with W.T. ranges of 0.188" to 0.500" What size diameter and wall thickness of pipe will accomplish this, or do I need to make more than one weld on another size pipe to cover that range.

    Vessel and Head Weights

I have been using a formula for finding the weight of a vessel, Wt.(lbs)=A(40.8)t; where A=surface area (Sq. Ft.) t=thickness of shell in inches 40.8= density of steel (lbs/in/sq.ft.) I have seen a reference to using 41.15 instead of 40.8 Can anyone help me refind the reference Thanks
