Thanks for the info on adaptors.
I live in Hawkesbury Ontario Canada K6A 2R2 and if you are close it would be a pleasure to have a visit when I start this project in the spring.
This may seem an odd project to some people but the rotary guzzler only has 139 ft. pounds of torque while the VW TDI...
The big three dont seem to listen to buyers but rather beleive in the power of marketing to manipulate buyers into buying their planned obsolescenced junk.
So, I have to build what I really need .
I just bought a VW TDI diesel engine to transplant in my 1988 Mazda RX7.
I might have to buy a...
thermal losses are reduced by using thermal barriers ie. :ceramics on pistons tops and comb. chambers.Combustion improves and particulates are reduced.
Combining ceramics with high pressure DI for better atomisation will improve efficiency still and cats can be left out as they are only a stop...
forget all the engineering arguments for not racing diesels.
They have twice the torque and some .
There are guys who are stopped by arguments and those who do it. Its all in the attitude.
SPEED+++++
I read all the theorizing about limitations to diesel engined car racing.
How about being a lot more positive....
Isn t vwracing in europe been racing for a few years.
They have 1.9 l TDI diesels pumping out 450 lbs of torque, thats more than a 350 LTI vette engine....
All theory limited...
Beechcraft had problems with their V tail Bonanzas ans it was because the stabilizers were unsufficiently stiff . After many accidents they developed a fix , a small bracket to be riveted to the front of the stabs at the intersection of the fuselage with a stiffening AL plate underneath.
The...
Last summer A friend purchased a damaged set of wings for his Murphy Moose .
The leading edges had a total of 3 awfull dents ,the longest being 38 inches right on the curvature of the leading edge. There were serious creases and the leading edge was effectively flat to the airstream . The depth...
I don`t know if this is too late now as your post was last july but, Jurca in France sells scaled replica fighters and another co. in Alberta Canada sells kits and engines.
Do a research in :
www. landings.com
in the homebuilt sections.
If you want to design it yourself , it will be a...
Hi Andres,
One of the foremost glider and motorglider manufacturer can be reached at : www.dgfleugzeugbau.de
Also for excellent links, just do a research in Google for motorglider. You will be amazed at the results.
By the way, are you contemplating using a full size motorglider to built a...
Oxygen injection into the induction charge can be made relatively safely.
The low efficiency of reciprocating engines is as mentionned above is a thermodynamic problem. Lots of heat energy is loss.
The Polymotor plastic engine solved part of the problem.
In more current engines we a a choice to...
OK Ivymike good thinking ,you are absolutely right, but let me throw another question at you.
Of course fuel in the liquid state occupies 160 times less volume than in the vapour state. But a few drops of fuel occupy very litte space in the intake or chamber. Actually, fuel vapours would compete...
The essence of the problem here is incomplete combustion .Incomplete mixing of air and fuel ,unevenly distributed fuel or mixture across the combustion chamber and
uneven temperature distribution across the flame front.
Catalizers are not ideal as they are basically garbage pails used after...
Valve coatings,
Nitriding works fine for resistance as it hardens the valve. The seats get pounded by a harder valve so there is a possibility that seat wear is increased . Watch that closely.
For durability there is another solution and that is a heat resistant ceramic coating on the face only...
I guess it wouldn`t hurt if you asked the FAA exactly what they want . Ask them to provide specefications on the test itself and who wrote it .Are they justified in asking for this test to start with ? Do everything you can to increase their workload .
:-)
