Which is better material for One way clutch system casing SAE 8615 (8620) or 20CrMo

I have 2 materials for one way clutch system, SAE 8615 (modified C% 0.1-0.14 or 8620 - Nickel Chromium Molybdenum Steel) and 20CrMo. This clutch is being used in starter motor. I could see failure of 20CrMo (Chromium Molybdenum Steel) like the casing getting crack in one particular variant...

Measuring relatively high static and pulsed magnetic fields

HI ROB Try using AD22151 or MLX90217 for linear output. These Hall sensor can measure a field upto 2T. kindly refer the datasheet

What type of magnetic metal to use?

Just for the moment, we'll keep the time entity away. So by 1., we will later consider this. By 2. its true that the magnetic metal will get attracted to the magnet and the pull force will decay as distance increases between magnet and the metal. Please clarify, if you've a flux return path or...

What type of magnetic metal to use?

Based on your dimension, I simulated and found the force to be -0.0643lbhttp://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=5a73d2ac-9b3b-4c8f-a4e4-b3c139ab9e8e&file=Pull_force.pptx

What type of magnetic metal to use?

Try using Low carbon Steel like 1010 or 1008 or 1006. Use this as in soft case do not harden it. AS soft as it is, it will be soft magnetic and will not get magnetized over period of time

Polymer suitable for maching thin walls

HI try some Glass Filled Nylon material where it has good strength and machinability or Glass Filled Phenolic Material has good strength but machinability is little bit doubtful. Check if you can purchase some PEEK or PAEK if they are availablereadily Regards N D Senthil Ram

Attraction/repulsion force between two equal magnets?

Refer to this book Permanent Magnet And Electromechanical Devices by Edward P. Furlani , chapter 4 pg 268 and above, you'll find good explanation for force and calculation can you pl convert to mm and add the data

Equal surface fields? Different pull forces?

BY converging or diverging the flow of flux lines in a steel, the holding force may be determined. Try to see some example of holding magnet

Attraction/repulsion force between two equal magnets?

Can you please tell me your application So I could give you some input on the same Be assured that it ll take 20N of course no doubt, but have safety factor for consideration

Attraction/repulsion force between two equal magnets?

Yes the attraction force is the change in attribute which will directly influence the force. One of the main attribute is the distance between the two magnets. Reg N D Senthil Ram

Equal surface fields? Different pull forces?

Dear Vis99, It is not so, the way in which you perceive is more important. Consider what are the criteria will affect for of a magnet. Take a simple example and get into basic understanding.Lets take steel and magnet of area 10 mm^2 of both and volume be 1000 mm^3 Here are few Distance between...

Equal surface fields? Different pull forces?

One more thing, i would also like to mention in addtion to the reply in your other post. The magnetic force of attaction & repulsion will vary w.r.t the surface area of the magnet. If you have 2 different sized magnet with different volume or if same sized magnet with different magnetic...

Attraction/repulsion force between two equal magnets?

Dear Vis99, I'll cite an example to understand the force of the magnet. First, Let's have magnet with 1 mm away from a steel plate, the force of the magnet to the steel plate, say 10N. The steel plate have no remenant magnetism, so the magnet or the steel will move towards the other if you fix...

How to test for good passivation/phosphating?

Yes I agree that the A967 is for testing passivation on Stainless Steel, However, with No standard for testing passivation on NdFeB magnet is available, I thought I can use this standard, provided that a few test like, Salt Spray Test, Salth Water Immersion test & Humidity Test may be carried...

Best common metal for "passing" permanent magnet's magnetic field

Dear Kyldera, I have a suggestion here, if you can put a coil near to the crack and increase the current step by step going through the coil which will increase the flux flowing through the metal proportionately. For every step measure the change in the flux leakage. At one point you can...

magnetize ferrite with rare earth PM - energy?

You need not to worry about the longevity of the NdFeB Magnet (magnetic field). Because you need 3x times the Coercivity of the NdFeB magnet to demagnetize. Here the energy of the N52 magnet will also remain undisturbed. On the Ferrite magnet, the impact of the magnetic field of NdFeB magnet...
