Is air motoring a valid process to develop engines on?

Brian, since the engine has a very large displacement to work with over conventional motors, can't they use that displacement to ensure a more complete burn? The concept behind the MYT engine seems to be that a large displacement and compression ratio can be used for high efficiency. Seems like...

Is air motoring a valid process to develop engines on?

I'm sure a few of you have heard of the MYT Engine, which claims to have a design prototype that better than doubles fuel efficiency over conventional engine designs. However, I'd like to know the validity of their methodology in arriving at their estimate. They use a process they call "air...

    Calculating Centrifugal Force

Well with wrong in caps lock I must be wrong! I can't believe that I messed that up. Should read: a = (v^2)/r But using that equation I'm pretty sure its wrong too. The problem is that using the formula you gave me the numbers seem a bit high, but maybe the power of centripetal force is stronger...

Thanks for the links, so far they have been really good. I forgot to post this one: http://www.onlinemetals.com - metal bar, rods, tubing, etc.

    Best online stores & services

So far this is the only website I've come across that has online ordering, clearly listed prices, and a broad selection: https://sdp-si.com/eStore/ This site may also be really useful for basic custom machining: http://www.emachineshop.com/ For the project I'm working on I will have maybe 35...

    Calculating Centrifugal Force

I think that the equation is wrong: Cf: centrifugal force in newtons m: mass in kg r: radius in meters Cf = (2*Pi*RPM/60)^2 * m * r (2*Pi*1000/60)^2 * 1 * .1 = 1096.6N This is equal to 247 pounds of force After figuring this out all over again, I came to the conclusion that r is in the wrong...

    Carbon fiber resin newbie question

Why are metallic resins never used as resin for carbon fibers? If I remember right carbon fiber has such a high melting point(boiling point really since it won't melt) that I would think almost any metal could be used as a resin.

    Calculating Centrifugal Force

Its taking longer than I thought to get the full animation of my working machine, so I have a link to the non-working version that is somewhat similar. In this animation I only displayed the two main parts of the invention, so you can't see the structure that keeps the "thrusting arm&quot...

    Calculating Centrifugal Force

Thanks for the calculation corrections guys. Here would be the complete all-in-one equation: Cf: centrifugal force in newtons m: mass in kg r: radius in meters Cf = (2*Pi*RPM/60)^2 * m* r (2*Pi*1000/60)^2 * 1 * .1 = 1096.6N This is equal to 247 pounds of force Also, Greg, after thinking about...

    Calculating Centrifugal Force

Here is the tough part: What happens when you have a negative radius? To imagine how this is possible, start with a large fan, with one fan blade having three times the length of the other blades. All the fan blades have a large mass at their tips. Fold the extra-long fan blade until it is the...

    Calculating Centrifugal Force

Thanks for the equation, it will definitely help me out. Check back in a few days to see my 100% great invention(or absolutely useless one).

    Calculating Centrifugal Force

I am designing a unique gyroscopic/centrifugal machine, but know little about the calculations involved, so am hoping that someone here will be able to help. Assume I have a 10cm radius centrifuge, and a 1kg mass at the end of the centrifuge, with the weight's center exactly at the 10cm mark...

Measuring material thickness of huge dome

At various points on the outside of the fiberglass, glue a few neodymium magnets to the structure. Then, use a gausse meter to measure the strength at various possible depths. Then, use the gausee to measure the magnetic reading from the inside. It might end up being just as expensive as the...
