AC ( Asbestos Cement) Water Piping

Thanks fel3, their should have been higher turbidity readings in their tap water system, no? Any idea what ph levels they were experiencing? Thanks again.

AC ( Asbestos Cement) Water Piping

Thanks Coloeng for your response. Interesting to hear that the roots can be causing failures. Did your area ever test for asbestos fibre in the tap water as part of their protocol? There seems to be a few documentaries out suggesting asbestos in water can to linked to various cancers. WHO says...

AC ( Asbestos Cement) Water Piping

My concern is trying to figure out a method of determining the degree of AC piping degradation prior to a complete failure. Does AC pipe shed asbestos at given rates vs age, or are there other factors that accelerate degradation? Will NTU units rise as the pipes shed? Not my area so I have a lot...

Stepper Motor for Needle Valve Temperature Control

Thanks again. With reference to so little money. I pay 30% exchange rate on Canadian to US money conversion, that with the high shipping charges, places a $700 item at over $1100 US. With respect to sewer systems that is not a problem as this area as we have independent septic/septic beds. I...

Stepper Motor for Needle Valve Temperature Control

Thanks for feedback guys. I know that manually adjusting two/three valves can be annoying and time consuming. Been there done that. I have also looked into Haas's product line. Feedback varies on satisfaction, cost etc. My thinking was to have one manual valve(rotometer) controlling the outflow...

Stepper Motor for Needle Valve Temperature Control

thanks Mike The new PID's seem easy enough to set up with a thermocouple etc. It gets more complicated picking out proportioning valves and some sort of stepper motors to adjust the valves. The application is to be used in a photo lab to give a specific water temperature. Unitys are available...

Stepper Motor for Needle Valve Temperature Control

Not my area, but I'm trying to put together a device with a PID that would control two steeper motors on needle valves( one hot and one cold) to give me constant water temperature flow. I want to keep it simple. Any practical ideas, on sourcing stepper motors, needle valves etc. Thanks

    Splicing Ground Wire

thanks for all the answers. I realize that the insurance co. has the final say in the event of. However the inspector gives the go ahead. In fact I found an old electrician( the best kind) and his answers corresponded to that of the inspectors. Actually the inspector was the last person that I...

    Splicing Ground Wire

Actually I was looking for a practical answer to a problem. Sorry you couldn't help. Either way problem needs to be fixed.

    Splicing Ground Wire

If a ground wire in a wire cable(6/3) nmwu was cut, what would be the correct method of repair? I've heard of using a crimp or a split bolt connector. It is not practical to rerun a new cable(cost etc). The ground is about a #10 stranded wire. All of the other conductors are ok. Open to suggestions.

Treating Lake Water High in Organics(Peat)

Thanks bimr. Will micro filtration take out the humid acid etc that will lead to THM's. Would GAC still be needed or will the filter take care of it? Thanks again

Treating Lake Water High in Organics(Peat)

Our water supply comes from a small lake and the only treatment to it is chlorination. The THM's are getting close to the max as set out by the province,(sorry I don't have the value in front of me). Any suggestions on treating the water to remove the THM 's? Some have suggested a DAF system...

RF Sensing - Controlling a Relay

I have an RF signal at 2 Ghz that I want to use to turn on a relay and keep the relay on as long as the Rf is present. Any suggestions on circuit design to accomplish this? Thanks,

    Stolen Computer

I recently had an Apple Mac Pro tower that was stolen from my office. Is there anyway that I can track this computer without having to go thru Apple? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Yes it was reported to the police, yes they did the usual investigations. Thanks.

    Street Light Controls

Looking for historical information on street light controls. I'm interested in knowing how street lights were controlled in the 1950's and 60's. What was used before the photocell, or has it been around from the beginning? If mechanical timers were used did they need to be reset for varying...
