Thanks weldstan.
Most of the 'hands-on' people that I know had differing opinions, with none actually carrying one out.
Does the pneumatic part of the test determine the test pressure?
Is the 'pressure' usually provided pneumatically or hydraulically?
Just a quick one.
What is a hydrostatic-pneumatic leak test in accordance with ASME B31.3 Section 345.6?
I've seen references to it being a lower pressure pneumatic test followed by a higher pressure hydrostatic test.
I don't think that's right though.
I've also seen references to it being a...
Have many people been caught out by the (possible) change in minimum test pressure from the 2008 version of ASME B31.3?
Prior to that, the adjustment for temperature was based purely on component allowable stress.
From the 2008 version (I think), it could also be based on component pressure...
Hi,
I'm currently raising new / revalidating existing Particular Material Appraisals (PMAs) for ASTM materials for use under the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED).
For these, I have to specify the Tensile / Yield values and the (basis of) the Allowable Stress values.
ASME B31.3 Table A1 covers...
Hi,
Daft and simple question.
I'm just raising a new PMA and I'm referencing ASME B31.3 as one of the standards applied.
ASME B31.3:2012 was issued in January 12th 2013 but has an effective date of six months after issue, July 2013.
