hello everyone. we are in the process of adding new pipes for water distribution. being new in our company, i noticed that gate valves are being installed "only" where tees are located. May I ask then, what is the proper spacing of gate valves. How do we install them?
another thing, could you please give me an idea on how to determine the proper size of air release valve for a certain pipe size say 6" dia. PVC pipe for example.

we have tried putting an air release valve at the highest point of our distribution main. what happened was instead of air being released, air is being sucked by the pipe into the distribution main. can somebody explain this?

kindly help me decide whether a 2" diameter pvc pipe is enough for 100 service connections or a 3" pipe is needed.
the pressure in that area is around 5 psi - 10 psi only.

taking into consideration the pressure surge that might occur in case i'll connect the new 6" dia. (30 lps or probably more) into the 8" dia pipe (which carries 40 lps already). i think it's better not to connect the 6" into the 8" pipe which will result into a 70 lps flow...
