    Strange Fitting?

I have a strange fitting here that I can't identify. It is not threaded! It has strange, concentric rings on it. http://flickr.com/photos/10466474@N04/2702862588/ Thanks!

engineering jobs in US - survey

"Which job did I hate the most? Fortunately I had co-op terms during university to help me figure out what chem engs did, and what of that I could stand- and what really turned my crank. So I avoided the really bad jobs. For me, aside from work that's just plain dull, the situations to avoid...

engineering jobs in US - survey

Great responses from everyone here. Well I'm in the alternative fuels industry, which is really awesome. Love my job, love where I live, boss is great, but it is an industry as many of you know that is just starting up so theres always a huge chance of failure. I thought about going back east...

engineering jobs in US - survey

I am a chemical engineer, and while I enjoy the field I have to admit that I have disliked the majority of locations I have worked in. I recently found a job I really like in a location I love. The problem is, like every job in the engineering field in the US these days, it is not secure. I...

    ASPEN for cheap?

Does anyone know where I can acquire an ASPEN license and installation software for the best dollar? In a few months I have to size a vacuum distillation methanol recovery unit (methanol/glycerol mixture). I used ASPEN when I was in engineering school and its the only program I know that will...

    drum pumps for haz. mat'ls

Thanks for the post. We have considered using nitrogen to operate the air motor. We're planning on pumping out of a drum for now b/c we're not using that much of it at a time. As for the H2SO4 we might do a gravitational feed but we'll be using even less of that than the CH3OK.

    drum pumps for haz. mat'ls

Also, all though we have removed ignition sources and placed ground clips on the drum, it would seem to me that using an air-driven motor for an explosive material would be out of the question. If anyone could confirm this (we don't want to have to use an xp electric motor if we can avoid...

    drum pumps for haz. mat'ls

Hello I am in the process of looking for two drum pumps, one to be used on sulfuric acid and one to be used with 32% potassium salt in methanol. I need the potassium methylate drum pump to be speced as a hazardous location as methanol is highly flammable in addition to being classified as...
