    Caster on a John Deere

Basic question- Have a farm tractor with no power steering and a front end bucket. The self centering torque is much higher with a load in the bucket, almost undriveable. If I were to reduce the caster angle, would it reduce the self-centering effect? I have an idea on modifying caster, but...

    Front suspension redesign

I'm a few months late here, but I used to build minitrucks. I had a bagged '97 S-10 on 18's. Are you still working on this?

    UV-C Lamps - Energy Savings

Thanks, tys90. For anyone interested, I found this study. It does not cover mold growth, only debris. But is still an interesting read...

    UV-C Lamps - Energy Savings

True, however airflow is assumed constant in this case. In any given condition, fan VFDs will deliver the same CFM.

    UV-C Lamps - Energy Savings

Has anyone done a calculation on energy savings from installation of UVC lamps in AHUs? Mainly concerned with SP on a clean coil vs mold-fouled. Can someone please direct me to a reputable study on mold-related coil fouling, perhaps? Thanks.

Need a Valve to Prevent CHW Vaporization in a High Rise Building

Thanks for all the replies. Attached pdf is a screenshot of the Pipeflo model. Concept: The location of the flow restriction is placed at a point to keep the water above it from falling below vapor pressure. The pressure downstream (not shown) has been "set" to 5 psi, because that is the...

Need a Valve to Prevent CHW Vaporization in a High Rise Building

I have a 9-zone building, one on each floor, redesigning for a variable secondary with a 2-way control valve on each AHU. Because the primary feeds 2 other secondaries, I must keep the pressure at the return node to the primary circuit low (around 10 psi). As a result, I am having vaporization...

    2 Speed Pool Pump

I have a 1.5 hp pump on my pool, a Hayward Super Pump. After some quick-n-dirty calcs and a bit of research, I realize that this pump is more than a little oversized. Hayward has a 2-speed model that looks identical (although discontinued). My question is, what is unique about the 2-speed...

Video Signal Cable Next to Electrical

I'm a mechanical guy so this may sound silly. I have in-floor outlet boxes in my house, which is under construction. I would like to add a video cable (such as a PC monitor cable) through the conduit with the 120v wire. The side-by-side run will be approximately 8 ft. The slab is poured, so...

    Buried Steel Pipe Coating

Thanks for the input, everyone. Steve, The water source is a pond reservior. There are no chemical additives, as this is for a set of deluge water systems. The total underground network is appoximately 1/4 mi. The link helped greatly, by the way.

    Buried Steel Pipe Coating

I need to spec a coating for an 18" carbon steel pipe w/ welded joints. This will be 3' below ground in a moist environment. The pipe is to be constantly charged with 200 psi untreated water. Do I need an inside coating if the pipe is always full? What is a common outer coating for this...

    Water pipe inrush force

I've got a 6" elbow on a pipe section. The pipe is normally empty. When activated, the water rushes in at a rate of 1000 GPM in 1 second. I need a way to calculate the "shock load" as the water hits the elbow. Has anyone dealt with this before? It's and above ground fire suppression system. Thanks.
