    Vortex sediment separation

Thanks alot BRIS, it sounds like you know a lot about this type of project. Now the questions come... 1. You said "course sediment" was removed. Can you give me an approx size that was removed/remained in suspension after treatment? 2. Do you suppose that the basin would be reliable if we send...

    Vortex sediment separation

Thank you BRIS and Bimr, Yes, the thought was to put a steep bottom on it to prevent buildup and direct the sediment into the center drain. BRIS, please tell me more about maintainence. This will be on the headworks of a flume to a power plant. Thanks a lot

    Vortex sediment separation

Hello, Has anyone worked with vortex sediment separation? I'm talking about 800cfs and gravity powered. I have found references to these, but no technical information. check out www.cis.umassd.edu/~gleung/cawfo/conf12.htm (The author of this article has retired...) A cool idea though...

    Vortex sediment separation

Actually I missed a character check out www.cis.umassd.edu/~gleung/cawfo/conf12.htm A cool idea... I'd like to use it, but I'm having some trouble finding resources. Thanks for any help

    Vortex sediment separation

Has anyone worked with a vortex sediment separation facility? I'm talking 800cfs, gravity powered. I've seen references to them overseas, and that they worked well, but I haven't found one in the US or with any specific design information. Check out www.cis.umassd.edu/gleung/cawfo/conf12.htm...

    Sedimentation fall velocity

Thanks bimr, Yeah, I know I need to keep it laminar, but I just started questioning the equations because like you said, turbulent flow is when sediment gets suspended... I suppose one needs to believe the book... Thanks a lot!

    Sedimentation fall velocity

Hey, thanks alot. Yes, I did notice that the CD was quite a bit lower in turbulence, but I'm getting a 4X speed increase which sounds a bit questionable... Thanks for you help! Garth

    Sedimentation fall velocity

Hi, I must admit to being a mechanical engineer, thrust upon a water treatment project... Help! I'm looking at terminal velocities for sand particles falling out of water in a settling pond. The equations that I'm getting out of "Unit Operations and Processes in Environmental Engineering" are...
