    Solidworks Crashes

If the PCs are identical you could try swapping some hardware over (graphics card, ram, etc) and see which one crashes.

Moving a fixed component for a drawing

I've got a large assembly with several sub assemblies and I want to generate some drawings with some components moved. I can create an exploded view for the linear moves but I want to rotate some elements (showing some doors opened). The doors are fulled mated but even if they were free they are...

Putting configuration information on a drawing

I'm not a big fan of configurations but I'm giving them a go. I've created a set of 18 identical parts except for one dimension which is different in each configuration. I want to create a single drawing with a cutting list. I want to put 'dim "A"' on the drawing then have a table listing each...

Problem with large assembly after SW upgrade

Looks like it was a dodgy custom texture on one of the parts. All the other custom textures came through OK but not this one.

Problem with large assembly after SW upgrade

Thanks. I thought it might be configurations so I saved all the sub assys with no configurations, just default, and rebuilt the assembly. It still fails to save. Shall check again in case I missed one.

Problem with large assembly after SW upgrade

We have just moved from SW2007 to SW2009 sp5. I have a fairly large assebly that wouldn't save after the upgrade. I am now trying to rebuild it and it is still failing. Each sub assembly seems to open and save OK. The top level assembly is new. Any ideas where I might look for issues?

    Drawing working gears

I occasionally draw gears, usually to be CNC'd from plastic. We have been using Camnetics Geartrax but having just upgraded SW have found it isn't compatible. Apparently it wont be compatible with the next version next time we upgrade either. I'm a bit loathed to keep buying it every time as I...

    spaceballs and asteroids

Spacemouse in one hand (the wrong hand) and normal mouse in the other is the norm. Once you get used to it you don't need the normal mouse much. I find I bring objects to the mouse pointer more than taking the pointer to the object. You can use a spacemouse for navigating in MS office but it...

Macro to get size of model

I need to get the X, Y and Z dimensions of the active model using a macro. Can someone point me at the right bit of code? thanks

    Lennyworks AssemblyBOM macro problem

Just found a zipped up original in an old folder and that has the same glitch. After some testing it seems it only does it if I use the windows [X] to exit rather than selecting [close]

    Lennyworks AssemblyBOM macro problem

I need to do something pretty similar to AssemblyBOM from Leenyworks. I had a downloaded copy which I have been playing with. I don't think I have done anything drastic but it only works every other time it is run. Very repeatable. One time it works, the next time not, then it works again. I...

Creating a macro to automatically generate a drawing

Thanks Tobin. That got me heading in the right direction. The first draft is working now. Needs tidying up and finessing. ' ****************************************************************************** ' C:\DOCUME~1\NICKBA~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\swx240\Macro1.swb - macro recorded on 08/06/08 by...

Creating a macro to automatically generate a drawing

Its SW 2007 Education version. Its got all the tools expcept the PDM. I've got the Task Schedular but I can't see how it could do this. I've made a start with a Macro I've managed to generate a list of parts in the assembly (with help from google and published code). Struggling a bit to...

Creating a macro to automatically generate a drawing

CBL, That's the idea. I've got an assembly of say 5 parts. I want to generate a drawing (for exporting as a DXF) with 5 views. 1 top view of each part in a single drawing. They don't need to auto nest as its easy to shuffle them around. Its the opening of each part to create the view that is...

Creating a macro to automatically generate a drawing

Thanks, but I want to create a single drawing containing a 'top' view of each component in the assembly.

Creating a macro to automatically generate a drawing

I've not used the task scheduler before. I've just had a quick look at it and can't see how it would help in this instance. Can you elaborate, please?

Creating a macro to automatically generate a drawing

I am considering writing a macro for setting up 2D files for our CNC machine. What I want it to do is create a drawing of an assembly and add a 'top' view for every individual part within the assembly. I have a 'manufacture method' custom property so I might use that to weed out the parts that...

Using a macro to read a text file to update custom properties

Thanks. Just written a basic test macro and it works perfectly (after a little debugging). Now to write the real thing.
