    Resonator questions

Thanks very much for all the help. If you would believe it, this forum has been the best resource I've had available to me. I am thinking of moving on from this company as it is unreasonable to continue to ask for so much help from a forum board if my employer will not provide training...

    Resonator questions

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately our request for the power meter was denied for bugdet reasons again - and they still want to cut aluminum even though it sounds like it may cost us more in the long run. But at least we'll know what to do if it does go south on us.

    Resonator questions

Concerning a 1000w Mazak Turbo 48x My company does not have support from mazak, nor any trained people in the area to talk to, so any help you can give would be wonderful~ For starters I need to ask again about the laser 'mode'. I'm looking at pricing power meters and am confused about what...

    Used equipment/button wear

I don't know if the company will go for a custom made cover for our old equipment, but I'll get some quotes. Those are some interesting sites! Has anyone tried that rescue tape? Would it work in a single layer over the existing rubber cover? Sounds like cool stuff if it really does what it claims~

    Used equipment/button wear

I can only guess where this should be posted, but it was worth a try. Has anyone found a good way to repair worn off soft touch buttons on old CNCs? The plastic covering the controls is very brittle on our old mill and laser, and the parts over many of the buttons have come off. I'm looking...

    Laser lens quality

Thank you. I've put in an order for linear polarizing lenses (I had no idea there was such a large selection until I googled 'polarizing lens'!).

    Laser lens quality

This may seem like a basic question, but with nothing to compare it too, I don't know how 'clean' the lens is. It appears to have very fine scratches that can only be seen by someone with good eyes (me) in a certain light. Is that acceptable? Or is the lens officially 'damaged'? It still cuts...

    Stainless steel issues

I am using a 1000W Mazak, and we just got an order for some 10ga stainless steel parts. We usually get them done outside, but now we want to do them ourselves. The problem is that stainless comes out looking horible off our laser. I have a 5" lens, a leaky assist gas system, and the company will...

Mild steel - what works best?

My boss just asked me what kind of MS works best for our 1000w Mazak. Honestly, I don't know much about the differences, I've had good luck with hot roll, but other than that I haven't been keeping track of the mild steel as much. Any thoughts on which type of metal we should order?

How can I find out what type of lens I have?

Unfortunately I don't have a box for the lens, nor a LC1212. It's a Mazak Turbo-46. All I have is the lens itself. Is there any other way to tell?

How can I find out what type of lens I have?

How can I tell which lens I have in an older laser? The manual states that the laser came with a 2.5 and 3.75 lens, but it has instructions on how to dismantle and re-mount a 5" lens as well. So how do I know which one is actually in the machine? The answer is probably just as obvious as I...

New to lasers - Just got an old Mazak and need some advice

Thank you for your help. I was starting to think I was being unrealistic goals, and I guess I was right! I don't think we are going to be able to really produce with this laser, so I don't think we will sink much money into it.

New to lasers - Just got an old Mazak and need some advice

My company recently acquired an old 1000 watt Mazak laser, and I've been asked to run it. No one in the company knows the first thing about laser cutting, and the manual has only gotten us so far. I've gotten it to perform on a basic level, but my boss wants to start larger scale production...
