Hi,
Contractor proposed to use non-standard blind in lieu of standard blind for hydotest? They claimed that the thickness calculation is still follwoing ASME B31.3.
Is it common to use non-standard blind for the hydrotest?

Hi,
Problem: Internal damaged galvanizing due to welding
Proposal: Because of extent of damage area is very small magnitude compare with the over-all length the contractor
recommended that:-
1) if the location is near by open end such as flanges, galvanized paint shall be applied internally...
Depending on the service and pipe class, NDE may not be 100%, sometime only 5% or 10% prior to doing hydrotest. I presume this risk is also allowed by code?
This threaded joint is for fuel gas skid part of fired heater package equipment. The whole things supplied by the package vendor.
We didn't realize it until it was delivered to site for site erection.
Just checking whether is it common to have threaded connection for below 4" line (150Ib...
Hi,
There is some concern to use threaded/screw fitting for fuel gas line (150 Ib rating) for our newly installed fired heater.
Normally our company standard is to weld.
Any advise?
Thanks

Hi,
Anyone got experience doing hydrotest prior to NDE? Was informed this is violation of ASME B31.3.
In order to expedite the project, we plan to do hydrotest prior to NDE on selected services and pipe class.
Thanks

Hi,
I'm currently involved in a refinery revamp project...mech back ground. We plan to do motor solo run test but got to wait for the refinery shutdown/turnaround in Dec 09. The power cable can only be terminated to the panel at substation when the refinery is shutdown.
I just thought perhaps...
