ASME B16.47 flange for high temperature

Thank you guys for your replies. @MJCronin: we use SS304H, not SS304. It may be used up to 1500F. (we are aware that the allowable stress is low and will result in a heavy, thick wall vessel) @gr2vessels: You refer to Table D, do you mean ASME II part D? As per ASME II, Class 1 bolting can be...

ASME B16.47 flange for high temperature

I’m designing a 36” manway on a SS 304H pressure vessel for 65 PSI/1400 F. When using the P/T ratings acc. ASME B16.47 for group 2.1 materials, I will need a 600# flange (400# would also be sufficient but is not common). When selecting bolting material acc. Table 1B, it looks there are some...

FLEXITALLIC GASKET (Gasket Factor (m) and MDSS (y)

gr2vessel was right, my assumption that it would be a spiralwound was made a little too quick. But as hplogger now confirmed it is indeed a spiralwound, you can use the values earlier mentioned (m=3/Y=69) in my opinion.

FLEXITALLIC GASKET (Gasket Factor (m) and MDSS (y)

Use the values for Spiral wound metal, asbestos filled, stainless/monel/nickel-base alloy (m=3, Y=10000psi/69MPa). These values apply also for non-asbestos filler material like graphite, etc.

    UCS-66 curve for normalized A-105

Shmulik, Thanks for your comment. Indeed it is a flat bolted cover (blindflange, t=150mm.) and it contains no welding except a welded set-on nozzle and weld overlay cladding. When using curve B, exemption temp. is +10°C w/o UCS-66.1 reduction, and +8°C with reduction. Therefor impact testing is...

    UCS-66 curve for normalized A-105

I have a bolted cover made from normalized A-105 material at a MDMT of +4°C. (not B16.5-standard, acc. Appendix 2). To determine impact requirements, I used UCS-66 curve B. Now I get a comment by my client that I should use curve D since the cover is normalized. Of course I like the idea of...

    EUROPEAN EQUIVALENTS

Indeed, 1.4306 is equivalent to SS304L. This indication is an old but common used German indication called "Werkstoff number" (WN) The indication as used in EN 10088-2 is: X2CrNi19-11
