    pneumatic test ?

What is the acceptable energy store in my system for a nitrogen test on a used (but empty) HTF line of 1 1/2'' dia, 3000 ft. I have read 50000 (psig x cuft) Is it alright ? I need reference My client would like to do it in one run. Thanks, vladimir99

    Valve isolation tank

Thanks, We finally purchased a std gate valve for my application. I was looking for a parallel slide gate valve as provided by hattersley heaton (wafer type, slimline catalogue) but the delivery was too long. I know it will leak as it is not a class 6 valve but our criteria was to meet API...

    Valve isolation tank

I have to purchase a valve to isolate a 30'' outlet line located at the bottom of a storage tank of Bunker 150 000 Barels. I will connect a future line to this valve in few months. However, the tank will already be in operation. Should I installed a standard gate valve, a parallel slide gate...

    max velocity in pipe 30''

We have a crude tank with a 30'' valve at the exit. This line will be the suction of the pump. My process engineer limit the velocity in the 30'' pump suction line at 4 ft/s. What do you think ? It is to conservative. I read usually it is between 6 and 10 ft/s. Thanks, vladimir99

    Gimbal Joint (expansion)

We have a crude tank installed for 20 years. We will replace the inlet line. At the entrance of the tank there is a gimbal joint. I am wandering if we should replace it.The tank is not sinking anymore into the soil. Thanks, Vladimir99

hydrotest, service test or pneumatic test on nitrogen

I think it is working pressure not the operating pressure we use for the test. So 1,1 x work pressure for a pneumatic test (recommended by my inspector) 1.5 x for hydrotest but I need drying the lines before putting in operation. Not good with SW lines. Service test only service up to 150...

hydrotest, service test or pneumatic test on nitrogen

We usually perfom service test for nitrogen service, sometimes, pressures are 230 psig. I think it is not correct. How do you interpret B31.3 Thanks,

Flush plan 31 - orifice location

Reagarding the flush plan 31 with orifice plate It is normal to have the orifice on the suction line of the pump. (under the cyclone) My understanding : 1. outlet recirculate to the cyclone 2. clean part goes to the gland *mechanical seal 3. dirt go to the suction line, but through an...

Thanks dcasto, my application is a 4'', 150# butterfly valve with TFE seat. Will the teflon seat wear as the metal seat ? Regards,

    Butterfly at outlet of PSV

We have an installation with a butterfly valve (isolating valve) at the outlet of a psv. We usually put gate valve with CSO. Is the used of that kind of valve allowed with APi *(Is this consider a block valve). My application is for light naphta. Thanks,
